About Me

Love. Travel. Learn. Help. Live.

Even though I grew up in Wisconsin on Lake Michigan, I'm a recent graduate of the University of New Mexico. Now, I work for Fort Lewis College as the Residence Director of Camp Residence Hall. I'm a huge fan of exploring and trying new things. I've recently started getting into rock climbing, slacklining, longboarding, and water sports. I love knitting, reading, hiking, practicing yoga, meeting new people, and baking.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Thus far, I'm new to the realm of Couchsurfing, but with all of the adventures I'd like to partake in throughout my life, I'd love to travel around as well as help others out when I can. Several of my friends have recommended this to me and I can't wait for the experiences to be had! Even though I live on campus (but not a student), I want to help those out who are in need of it and add to my ever-growing list of experiences and encounters with other travelers. While I can't necessarily offer my space to host at this moment, I'd still love to meet up with travelers passing through.

Interests

I enjoy a myriad of things that include but are not limited to hiking, reading, playing my cello, theatre, baking, knitting, Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Star Wars, the outdoors, exploring, music, working with youth, slacklining, rock climbing, tubing, backpacking...

Music, Movies, and Books

Music (not even close to be an exhaustive list) - classical (particularly the Romantic Era), folk (i.e. The Gospel Whiskey Runners, Humming House), indie (The Hush Sound, Jukebox the Ghost, Miniature Tigers), Irish Punk (Flatfoot 56, Flogging Molly), big band, musicals, rock, punk... I'm always exploring my tastes and love to find new styles (as I go through different phases).

Books - The Princess Bride, Wuthering Heights, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Hobbit, poetry of any type (favorite authors: Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz, John Keats, Emily Dickinson, Shakespeare), Good Omens, Macbeth, the Harry Potter series.... far too many to list!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The best thing that I have done in my life is work at Philmont Scout Ranch, helping the youth in scouting grow as they venture into the wilderness of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for ten days. I've made several close friends here, seen amazing sights, and experienced such a deep closeness to nature that I have never had anywhere else.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can show you different expressions (clean and dirty) in American Sign Language! We can go exploring in the Durango area for either a nice walk along the river, a gorgeous hike nearby, or a tasty pint at a local pub.
