Overview
About Me
Hi! I’m Zoey Liu, a social anthropology student from London, currently spending a year abroad at the University of Tokyo. Before that, I’ve lived in Shanghai, London, Paris, Berlin, and St. Petersburg — each city taught me a different rhythm of life, and I like to think of myself as a quiet observer of the world’s small details.
Beyond academia, I work across photography, education, and research. I’ve been a research assistant for creativity-in-education projects, a consultant for environmental NGOs in Africa, and a mentor for youth-led art programs in rural China.
My creative works — mostly photography and zines — have been shown in small collective exhibitions in London and Tokyo, exploring themes of memory, city, and coexistence between humans and nature.

What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share stories and stillness — the kind that appear when two people from different worlds sit together and speak honestly.
I love cooking simple Chinese meals and exchanging recipes from our homes. I often travel with a small film camera, and I’d be happy to take a portrait of you or your city, as a quiet memory of our encounter.
If you’re curious, I can also share glimpses of my anthropology research and photo zines — small books I make about people, places, and the ways we coexist with nature.
But more than anything, I hope to share a sense of attention: the feeling that our ordinary days, when truly seen, can become something beautiful and meaningful.
