About Me

Bougie pseudo-intellectual who really enjoys meeting people while traveling solo. There's a lot going on right now so I'm taking a break from hosting, but feel free to reach out with any questions or requests to hang out. Plus you guys are apparently really into the idea of crashing with me. Thanks, guys.

My most recent trip (visiting parents doesn't count) was: Backpacking in Portugal for three weeks.

I want to go to: Armenia, Malta (but not because of Pete Buttigieg), and Spain (as in properly see it. I flew in and out of Barcelona on my most recent trip and caught the beginning of la Mercè. I now feel weirdly patriotic about Catalunya?).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet people and to plot my next backpacking trip.

Interests

Reading, impressions, taking ideas apart, yoga, occasionally buying traumatizingly expensive ingredients from the farmer's market to cook with, impersonating a public intellectual, and unoriginally but most definitely, traveling.

Music, Movies, and Books

For all you overeducated children of the liberal arts:

Books: Giovanni's Room (Baldwin), Rules for Old Men Waiting (Pouncey), A World Lit Only by Fire (Manchester), Straight Man (Russo. HaHA), King Leopold's Ghost (Hochschild. Oy VEY), Tenth of December (Saunders. UH-mazing), Lolita (I read the short story Nabokov first wrote of this, completely by accident, when I was in eighth grade. Obviously unsettling).

Movies: Wall-E, City of God, La Gloire de mon père (childhood comfort cinema), Terminator 2 (ditto), To Live, The Birdcage, Goodbye, Lenin!, La Vie d'Adèle, Reservoir Dogs.

TV (LAHV it): Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, Arrested Development, Freaks and Geeks ("Hi Cindy"), Louie, Parks and Recreation ("RECTANGLE!"), Game of Thrones, Looking ("Is that Jesus?").

Music: A combination of the unequivocally awesome and the frankly embarrassing plus 90s R&B, which is often both. My top iTunes play counts indicate that I'm a 14-year-old girl.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've lived an incredibly privileged educational, professional, and personal life. That combination of historically and culturally specific coincidences is kind of amazing. Most of us who find ourselves on Couchsurfing are similarly amazingly lucky.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Brainstorming life ideas, quips, budgeting (really), devastating takedowns of people you don't like? What do you need/what might help you? Let me know.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Monaco, Portugal, Switzerland, Thailand, United States, Vatican City State
