À propos de moi
CURRENT MISSION
Having a mission would imply having a direction--I'm just seeing where life takes me :)
ABOUT ME
I am liberal, funloving girl who has been a resident of the Chicagoland area all of her life, but now I'm branching out to the rest of the world.
I love being around people and find it hard to say "no" to any social event. For this reason, I often find myself in awkward or uncomfortable situations, but still loving every minute.
I am about to leave the United States to live in southern France to be an English teaching assistant. Ultimately, my goal is to publish children's literature...so if you're a fan of children's, grade school or young adult books, we have something to talk about!
PHILOSOPHY
One of my best friends and I decided long ago that our priorities would be as follows: 1. enjoying life and people in a social setting 2. loving family and friends 3. living an active and healthy life and 4. academic and career aspirations. Since then, I have realized that the best part of life is the experience and enjoying how different people are. I believe that everyone has something to offer and no one person can claim superiority to another. No one is "normal"--everyone is ridiculous is their own way. Life is much richer this way.
Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have met up with travelers in Chicago for a cup of coffee, have been shown around Lisbon by a great couchsurfer, and have surfed a few couches in Europe. I'm looking forward to utilizing CS this year when I move to southern France to meet some friends and help out other travelers!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
The best couchsurfing experiences I have had are being shown an out-of-the way forest of Lisbon, seeing another side of London, and actually living in a Cambridge college!
Centres d'intérêt
Volleyball, visiting the neighborhoods and bars of Chicago, drinking coffee, hitting up a small venue for a show, summer in Chicago, talking to interesting people, learning about different cultures/customs, telling or listening to stories (good or bad) and reading a good book.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres
I just finished reading East of Eden by Steinbeck and LOVED it. Some other favorites include Lolita (Nabokov), the Iliad (Homer), Emma (Austen), The Tale of Tales, or Entertainment for Little Ones (Basile) and really anything written by Edgar Allan Poe--honestly, I'm an avid reader.
I also love listening to music. I've really been into Stars, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Decemberists, Tegan and Sara and Death Cab for Cutie recently. But I'm really looking forward to seeing Balkan Beatbox at Lollapalooza!
Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue
Sharing a Guiness with my Dad in the pubs of Dublin, climbing the Great Wall of China with my volleyball team, exploring the Mayan ruins in Belize, minding the gap in London, going through the Mon and Brec canal in Wales, awkwardly sitting through a gondala ride with my grandparents in Venice and seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle in Paris are some of my favorite travel memories. Oh, and my 7 week W. European adventure the winter of my senior year of college alone.
Enseignez, apprenez, partagez
Teach. How to tell ridiculous stories from seemingly insignificant and awkward experiences.
Learn. Wanna teach me how to cook?
Share. I have a passion for health and fitness. We can go on a run or bike ride?
