Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am interested in people, their thinking, their culture and customs and while staying at hostels when travelling can be fun, you primarily end up hanging out with other travellers who have their own journeys and discoveries to make. What I really value however is the interaction with locals and gaining an insight into their city, country, life. I thought couchsurfing could give me this experience. While I was in SE Asia I did a volunteering experience in Pontianak (Borneo) where I stayed with my host and his mum. It was a fantastic decision to do this and I feel I inegrated and experienced a lot during this time. Hopefully couchsurfing can offer similar.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - I usually read crime and psychological thrillers
Movies - uhh it's been a while since I last watched a movie, but I very much enjoy foreign film cinema. My favourite movie is The Intouchables (French movie based on a true story, cannot recommend it highly enough)
Music - a bit of hip hop, rnb, pop, indie rock etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I took 7 month sabbatical from work in 2016/2017 and backpacked around South East Asia. I wish I could do this every year.
