About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to wander and wonder!

ABOUT ME

I'm born and raised in Amsterdam, a beautiful city full of hidden gems. During my studies (Cultural Anthropology and Sociology) I have lived in Sweden, the Basque Country and Ireland. Back in Amsterdam, I spend my days with working for two media outlets, playing the Irish sports Hurling and Gaelic Football, reading, watching films, biertjes drinken with friends and organising an annual summer camp in a national park in the east of the country where I also go throughout the year to sail in traditional punting boats, build bonfires and camp. Oh and holidays of course! Next up is Birmingham, a short weekend away with my Gaelic Football team which I extend till the Monday so I can explore the city and get to know some people!

Because where ever I am, I love to have good conversations with close friends or (former) strangers and meeting people with different backgrounds!

PHILOSOPHY

You can always catch up your sleep

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Beasts of the Southern Wild, The Lord of The Rings (the extended versions) and Manchester by the Sea.

Books: Winterijs (a wonderful and very moving Dutch children's book), the Napolitan novels by Elena Ferrante and the Georgian family epos 'The eight life (for Brilka)'.

Music: from reggaeton to the Amsterdam Klezerband

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Over the last years, I have visited study friends in their home countries: Tajikistan, Mexico and Armenia. As an anthropologist, I find this one of the most special ways of getting to know a place, and as a friend it was great to deepen our bonds.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: how to lie in the sun, relax and listen to a story that's being read to you. To be more adventurous than you thought you were. To cook a perfect banana pancake.
Learn: all of above, plus fluency in Spanish and Swedish.
Share: experiences and fun.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Experiences: from moving moments with children during the summer camp I organise, to the story of how I almost accidentally killed an old lady in a Oaxacan mini van.
