About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live life at my own pace and find and nurture contentment

ABOUT ME

Well, I grew up in Manchester and then London having been born in Glasgow with a Scottish father and a Danish mother. So I should be fiercesome Viking / Highlander warrior that eats lots of bacon and drinks barrels of whisky. I do like bacon and the odd tipple although I'm not into raping and pillaging.

I had been working for an internet company for the last 7 years making websites which was fun for a while.

I then took a career break to spend time writing my own music, playing gigs in London, travelling and generally not working. During this period I entertained the idea of a career change and moving into environmental matters, but bottled it at the last minute and now work as the IT manager for a company in Aylesbury.[UPDATE: after a catastrophic end to this career I finally got into environmental stuff and am now working for ManageCo2, doing carbon reporting software. Much better]

I'm a kind, sociable person who enjoys music, theatre, cinema and intelligent conversations - happy to show anyone around London (UPDATE: Limerick in Ireland) whenever.

Limerick is an interesting place with lots to do and like myself you have to peel away the layers to find the beauty.

[UPDATE: 5 June 2015] : Live in a nice 3 bed house 15 min walk from limerick centre with my girlfriend and the occasional housemate. Set up my own software company www.trackplanfm.com, Trackplan Software offering facilities management software.

PHILOSOPHY

Learn to love yourself and others. Only connect. [UPDATE: wrote that several years ago but I guess it still applies, which is good]

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now live with my girlfriend in a comfortable cosy house 15 minute walk from the city centre.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Love crashing round friends' houses, vans, boxes on sofas etc and living in a nomadic existence - usually wake up in the morning with a sore head wondering where the hell you are! Not so often now as I'm older and wiser!

Interests

Write my own music, play guitar and sing in a 3 piece band [UPDATE] Was in a 2-piece band in limerick (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sgSy3qAGJ-Q ). But Lukasz had to move to london - so my guitar is gathering dust for now. Love real surfing, running, swimming, tennis, golf and staying healthy. Reading is the most nourishing thing you can do - if you can find the time.

Music, Movies, and Books

L'Appartement, The Hustler, In Bruges, David Gray, Gillian Welch, KT Tunstall, Stornoway and any book by Ian Mcewan, Tony Hawks or Alain de Botton and the woman that wrote the Moomins.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Dancing to "This Charming Man" in a bar in Spain during a basque festival in a mountain village knowing noone at all, collapsing and then waking up in the back of a car the next morning in the middle of the town square surrounded by people in their white outfits with red sashes. Weird (did I spell that right?). Also, slept in a wheel barrow in the hotel gardens of a posh hotel in london - very cheap.
