One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
1) I witnessed the worst rains that Beijing has had for over 60 years. Public transport was stopped, tunnels and underpasses were flooded, and thousands of people were stranded away from home. Some pedestrian pathways were also flooded, so people were hiking through the rain, climbing over walls and bridges in order to get home. Amidst a semi-moral crisis the nation was feeling, where news of buses deliberately running over babies circulated the news and distrust amongst the public was rampant, I saw strangers helping each other climbing over walls, carrying umbrellas for each other, and just watching over the safety and welfare for their fellow comrades. It reminded me that there is a basic humanity in every part of the world, no matter the culture.
2) The scenery at Jiuzhaogou National Park in Sichuan, China. Simply breath-taking.
