About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Our being is subject to all the chances of life. There are so many things we are capable of, that we could be or do. The possibilities are so great that we never, any of us, are more than one-fourth fulfilled.

ABOUT ME

I'm a happily married father of two wonderful daughters. I'm Swedish and I love my country and the Swedish culture. I've been living abroad for the last 7 years now and enjoy learning about other cultures.
I have a background as freshwater ecologist. I was a wetland expert and consultant for many years and also worked as a conservation officer for a Swedish NGO for many years. I've also involved myself in renewable energy projects and I'm currently self employed as photographer and filmmaker.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is to have an open mind about everything. I think freedom of expression is the most important thing we have in an open society. I try to be self reliant and be of help to those who need it. I don't like societies where they tell people what to think and how to behave whether it's because of religion or ideology.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not any couchsurfing experience yet since I just joined but have been on a ski trip and many other events with the couchsurfing group in Washington D.C. area.

Interests

I'm a sports fanatic. I play tennis table tennis and used to play football(soccer). I love to watch both soccer and American football. I'm a big outdoors person and I do a lot of kayaking, hiking and biking. I own a road bike and like doing longer bike trips. I'm also a scuba diver. Got my certification over 30 years ago and have gone on trips to Mexico, Thailand, The Phillipines, Cambodia, Egypt etc.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Koyaanisqatsi - Life out of balance, Apocalypse now, Citizen Kane, The Seventh seal, North by northwest, Gandhi.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a 8 month long backpacking trip through South America in 1984. One of the riskiest parts was trecking through the Darien gap. The only part of the Americas without roads. It's now considered one of the most dangerous places on earth but back then it was an amazing experience with meeting the Cuna and Choco tribes deep in the rain forest.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to meet people from all around the world. I have traveled a lot but I'm still more curios than ever about other cultures and open to learn about other people.

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Cambodia, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Estonia, Iceland, Indonesia, Israel, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, Norway, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Malta, Sweden, United States
