About Me
CURRENT MISSION
See new places and revisit those I've been to before. Meet new people and revisit old friends.
ABOUT ME
I'm intelligent, friendly, and sociable and I try to be kind and compassionate. I seek out opportunities to talk to people and get to know them. I also value my privacy and spend a good deal of time alone. I read a lot, don't generally watch TV, but I do watch DVDs often. I ride a bike, but only as transportation and in good weather. I've lived mostly in small towns and rural areas, but I like large cities and have walked for miles in Boston, Philadelphia, Madrid, San Francisco, and, especially, New York. I love the ocean and have swum from dozens of beaches from Maine to Florida, as well as a few in California and Mexico.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
When I was young I hitch-hiked all over the U.S. and Canada. Wish I had couchsurfing then.
Interests
My favorite things include reading: literary fiction, history, biography and memoir, etc. Hiking, especially in the mountains. Baseball, though I hate watching the Red Sox self-destruct. Coached youth leagues and Babe Ruth for nine years in New Hampshire, where I lived for 21 years. I used to love to ski, but haven't for several years. I have nothing against cats, and have had a few for most of my life, but I'm really crazy about dogs, especially my standard poodle, Ramona. She lives with my ex, but I see her often and take her hiking in places where neither of us needs a leash.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Wire, Treme, the original State of Play, Novels: The Rabbit series, Any Human Heart, Charming Billy, The Plot Against America are among my favorites in recent years.
Music: So much, so many genre, good vs. bad is what matters. Admire: Tony Judt, Clive James, Joan Chittister, Robert Reich, Andy Borowitz, to name a few.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'm being asked for "moments that left you awestruck." The birth of my son. The 2004 LCS and World Series.(quite a few "moments" there) Seeing Oak Creek Canyon at dawn in 1963 after being awake all night.
