About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi there! My name is Judith and I live in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I have travelled quite a bit, although it has been waaaay too long ago. At the moment I'm studying East European Studies in Amsterdam, but trying to get an internship somewhere in (shockingly) Eastern Europe. I work in a bar/ café and therefore love tasting craft beers and acting crazy while drinking them ;) You can always ask if you can stay, however- I have one room and one bed, so sleeping on the floor on an air mattress would be your faith. My response has not been great either (sorryyyy) as I like to ignore social media stuff sometimes ... which of course is stupid cause couchsurfing leads to offline contacts now I think of it. Ah well, I promise to do better!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I really like randomly meeting the greatest and strangest people, so couchsurfing is a great opportunity for that. It's always the easiest talking to someone from another country- you can compare cultures for hours and it never gets boring!

Interests

I am basically always singing, which can be annoying I must admit. But I'm not too sucky at it, so you know, it's not that bad (now this sounds kind of arrogant, I just mean- I can sing quite okay, so don't worry, your ears won't fall off if you spend a sure amount of time with me).

What else do I like to do? I've been really into reading travel literature lately, because of a course I took. Currently, I'm focused on accounts of Russia and the Caucasus and I'm actually doing research on 17th century travel writing among European writers - Extremely interesting! The whole "oh-look-at-me-I-don't-want-to-go-where-everyone-goes-I'm-going-off-the-beaten-track" attitude already existed back then, only then it was said by rich aristocrats and not by 18-year-old backpackers.

I pretend to play guitar, but I suck at it. I play korfball (a Dutch sport, kind of a mix between basketball and netball) and love to hike and ski! - I guess it's because we don't have mountains in the Netherlands, but mostly all Dutchies I know are obsessed with mountains and all activities concerning mountains.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- I really like listening to soundtracks, because they have a nice flow about them, and there a good mix of up-beat happy music and sad/serious music. Artists I like: Regina Spektor, Three Days Grace, Charlene Kaye, Eddie Vedder, Simon and Garfunkel, Florence + the Machine etc etc etc

Movies - Lord of the Rings, all of them (it's a bit of a past obsession of mine), but Two Towers is best. (The Hobbit movies are nothing in comparison). Last thing I saw in the cinema is The Shape of Water- really liked it.

Books - Harry Potter can always cheer me up, but loads and loads of other stuff too.
