CURRENT MISSION

We just got married this past May (2013), and have decided that instead of a normal honeymoon we would challege ourselves to leave our busy lives in LA behind for a while to go explore the world for up to a year starting in South America this fall :)

ABOUT ME

We are a couple who met in graduate school in Denver, Colorado over 7 years ago and just got married on Bermuda Island this past May 2013 :)

Our friends say we're the kind of people who can walk into a room and instantly become friends with everyone - which is what we love to do! We are very outgoing and love to be social. We are happy in every situation from just hanging out sipping coffee to a big night out on the town. We love eating everywhere from the family run 2 table restaurant to the fanciest of places. We adapt well to every place and situation and enjoy what life has to offer from each and every type of experience.

We love being outdoors whenever possible and enjoy everything from hiking, running, and sitting at an outdoor cafe to adventure activities like paddle boarding, tubing down rivers, surfing, skiing, and literally anything fun and exciting!

We enjoy everything from the smallest and most simple details in life to the luxury, and constantly seek to enjoy the finer things in life on a budget.

We are both very motivated and driven business professionals when we're not out enjoying life and we live by the "work hard play harder" ideal ;) We love looking outside the box at different ways to view both business and life.

Taurin is 34 and Gretta is 30.

We both are very driven professionals but with a purpose of working hard to be able to enjoy all that life has to offer outside the office. We believe in earning the fun that we have, but keep a focus on making sure we're always having fun! :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We heard about couchsurfing from friends when we started planning our trip. Sadly we left our apartment in Los Angeles to start our travels before we could host anyone ourselves, but we're really excited to meet locals where we can who are kind enough to open up their homes to us and teach us about their country and city.
We just finished the first half of our travels tramping around South America from September through December, are are currently in New Zealand through mid-February with plans to be in Australia heading up through Southeast Asia for March & April. We're having the Time of our LIVES and look forward to continuing to meeting amazing people all along the way!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We're just starting out in the community and are so excited to meet members of this wonderful network. I have had family and friends host travelers and when we're settled back in The States after our travels we will certainly host those in need as well :)

Interests

One thing that attracted us to each other is our mutual interest in wanting to try just about everything and loving new experiences. We travel a lot to visit friends and love taking our own road trips all over The States on long weekends.

We would both rather be outside than inside and love any activity in the great outdoors. Skiing, biking, hiking, running, river tubing, boating, sailing, etc.

I guess a hobby of ours is learning new fun activities. Some we've enjoyed thus far are learning to surf, learning to fly a plane, and next month we'll be learning to ride motorcycles.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: since Gretta works in the music industry the types of music we like and concerts we've attended is extremely varied. we love singer-songwriters, rock, pop, country, with some favorite bands being Dave Matthews Band, Empire of the Sun, Aerosmith, Kaskade, John Legend, and Outkast among MANY others new and old!

Books: "4 Hour Work Week" by Tim Ferris of course ;) Challenging the way we do things in life and business is an important and fun concept.

Movies: Taurin would say Matrix and Lord of the Rings while Gretta would say Labyrinth, Princess Bride, and Sweet Home Alabama ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We've done and seen some pretty amazing things together and individually from sailing the Caribbean to climbing Machu Picchu, camping in Patagonia, road tripping to Alaska (Taurin), skiing in Canada, singing in Notre Dame (Gretta), and SO much more.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH:
- Gretta can teach the arts of bargain shopping in The States (ha!) while Taurin can teach people all about the current real estate market in the US.

LEARN: We both want to improve our Spanish language skills. We are very rusty and both beginners but fast learners.
