About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to explore some different parts of the country before I settle down for the time being in Northern California!

ABOUT ME

I've been teaching in Chicago for the past few years after college and will be moving to California to work in the tech industry. I love gardening and growing food and am interested in sustainable models for living.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to learn everyday.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I enjoy hosting guests and staying in people's homes. I always like having a local's perspective of a new place, and am happy to buy groceries, cook, and break bed with anyone generous enough to host.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed on couches in Illinois, Virginia, New York, Pennsylvania, Maryland, North Carolina, Texas, and California!

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately I've been reading Amitav Ghosh (The Glass Palace, Sea of Poppies, The Shadow Lines), a Bengali author whose books are set in colonial and post-colonial Asia and have huge casts of interesting characters from all walks of life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The Chocolate Hills of Bohol in the Philippines; homemade confit du canard at a friends house in the South of France; Christmas dinner (shellfish!) with a family in Cadiz, Spain; road tripping from Chicago to Austin; and travelling up the Rhine River through Germany.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like creating and managing spreadsheets. A lot of systems could benefit from some organizational structure and I'm always happy to help with that. I like working outside, building things and growing things. I am detail oriented and enjoy editing essays, articles, and stories. I can also teach you how to do a handstand.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, China, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Philippines, Poland, Spain, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
