Hi!

I am a Nursing student up north in the Finnish Lapland. I have Santa in my backyard but unfortunately no polar bears :) I live in a small city called Kemi but live outside the city limits in a residential area with a Finnish family.

I am working as an au pair to the family who have 2 young daughters and sleep in a loft apartment on the compound but not in a part of the main house. This is why I am unable to provide couchsurfing opportunities.

Born in Punjab, North India, moved to Kenya as a baby and lived there for most of 18 years before moving to Finland for further studies. I am a believer of God but also of science. I love the health care profession and wouldn't have it any other way.

I am quite noisy and outgoing though not too much into the party lifestyle. I prefer to cook together with friends and tal about our differences, similarities, experiences and general facts of life.

I can tend to be strongly optionated, especially when it comes to poor, mismanaged politics, but it's usually just because I get something to talk about :D

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I heard about CS from a friend and signed up, though did not really understand the dynamics of it.

Although I cannot offer a place to stay, I can offer to give a short tour of our tiny city to any interested indiciduals and maybe even point them in a few different directions for a more Lapish experience.

兴趣

I love poetry, music and reading.

My favourite activity is to talk to random people and just try to make a new friend, regardless of whether or not we meet again. I am an extrovert to a point but sometimes, when the day and the mood is gray, I am a potato :D The potato though manages to write better poetry than the extrovert.

I listen to various types of music in various languages. Punjabi always comes first but I can never who comes second.

I am not a movie person. I love DiCaprio, Cruise and Depp but I cannot find enough enthusiasm to sit in front of an electronic box that tries to control my time and mind. Sigh.

As a reader, I read a lot and in a wide variety of genres. Writing in my opinion, is an art, and therefore has no measure of good, better, best. To me, if I can manage to keep turning the pages, life's good :)

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I have done a wide variety of things that I thought were amazing until I realised that they fell under the category of "stupid". Sorry mom.

The most amazing thing to date that I have done could be a tie between spending a crazy amount of time during the summers in the Finnish forests picking berries and finding inner peace and contentment and making snow angels after sauna.

Languages fascinate me. I can never get tired of learning anything new, though beginning with words is usually easier.

I can teach you about Punjab (my favourite subject!) I could try to dump some of my poetry on you only I am not so sure if you survive the experience :D

I am seriously biased about brown people as we South East Asians in the diaspora like to refer to ourselves as. I can share with you the ten million reasons my mom thinks I'll never get married and all the funny things about being Brown.

Yes, we do have arranged marriages! That can be one interesting topic of conversation. My personal marriage mantra? #NotGonnaHappen :D
