To explore as much of the world as I can before I go to university.

ABOUT ME

I am a friendly, positive and adventurous person. I like to visit new places and meet new people. My favourite way to get to know new countries is to cycle through them and I think this is a great way to meet the locals. I have taken a gap year before Uni so that I can earn some money and do a bit of travelling. I am a very interested in architecture and would really like to see buildings and structures from around the world.

PHILOSOPHY

Being creative is really important to me: listening to and sharing great music, cooking and eating good food, making useful and interesting things with my hands.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have not yet hosted or surfed. I want to start by surfing during my travels this year and move on to hosting as well once I have my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never couch surfed before and I am really looking forward to it. I have done a fair bit of travelling all my life. I used to go camping or youth hostelling with my mum a lot. Last summer I went camping with my friend on the Germany coast and youth hostelling in Berlin. I really enjoyed the experience. In Berlin we met people from Brazil, France and England and we all went out together and had a look around the city.

Interests

I am very interested in music and am really excited to experience great music from across the globe. I have been to many concerts in Scotland ranging from Arrested Development to Gil Scott-Herron to Dizzee Rascal. I have also been to a techno club in Berlin and more EDM bars in Hamburg. I really do like to dance.
I am also really into my cycling. I used to do a lot of mountain biking as there are a lot of great trails in Scotland. Recently I have branched out to the road bike as well and I am planning to cycle across France, Germany and the Netherlands with 3 other friends this June and July.

Music, Movies, and Books

When I was younger I used to listen mainly to rock such as Linkin Park and Green Day. Luckily my parents also listened to a mix of good music so I grew up listening to Erykah Badu, Outkast, Marcus Miller, the Brand New Heavies and Jamiroquai. My two favourite book series are the Chronicles of Ancient Darkness and Predator Cities; one is a historical fantasy and the other science fiction. Recently I have seen a German comedy set in Hamburg (my mother's home town) called Soul Kitchen which is my new favourite film. The last film I saw was 12 Years A Slave which I thought was amazing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I camped in an international camp when I was 16 with around 2000 other people from a wide range of countries. At this camp I DJed inside a large tent in front of around 300-400 young campers.

Teach, Learn, Share

I play the drum kit in a funk-rock band so if a drum kit just happens to be readily accessible I could definitely teach the basics plus some other nice rhythms I have learned.
I have amassed a lot of music from many genres which I would be very happy to share and I would be interested getting to know new music.
I am a fairly good cook and a very good baker. I would be very happy to cook meals for people.
Recently I did a whisky tasting session at my work where I learned about how the tastes especially in single malt whiskies are created. I would be very happy to share the information I remember.
