About Me

ABOUT ME

Currently traveling around Latin America with my dog Soare from the south of North America 🌞

I love to meet people and get to know them, have some mate 🧉/ beer/ coffee/ lemonade, have some good food (food is the key to my happiness), listen to stories and anecdotes (and tell mine, I’ve got enough to write a book) because I'm really curious and I want to learn a lot of new stuff and see how other people experience this world.
I love nature, hiking, being around likeminded people and being alone with Soare and a book or my journal, I love writing, I love singing but I’m too shy to do so in front of other people, same with dancing.. I love taking pictures and little static videos of Soare, little animals and curious things/ beautiful moments I see along the way, I easily get attached to things even tho I know that I shouldn’t (e.g., there’s a rock I’ve been carrying around with no intention of leaving it behind even tho I know it’s useless).

To be honest I have to say that lately I became more and more intolerant to a lot of things. It might be the age, it might be some of the experiences I’ve had recently on this trip or it might just be the world we’re living in that makes me feel that way. Things that I’m ALLERGIC to are: fascism, nationalism, sexism/machismo, capitalism, queerphobia. I’ve been intolerant to these things since forever but also I used to be kinda shy about being straight forward. I’m not anymore. I’ll let you know if I think you’re being an asshole. So if you don’t wanna risk it: better don’t contact me if you’re somewhat close to one of these categories.

PHILOSOPHY

Be open-minded and open-hearted. It’ll be worth it (in most cases. Sometimes it also just hurts you. But you’ll never know unless you try I guess.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I participate by being part of the community, keeping up the spirit of exchange and trust. I think that we all have different reasons to use this platform but what unites us is that we all want to keep this exchange alive. We want to believe that humanity is not as shitty and doomed as we see it on the news. Or maybe that’s just me? However, I think that for my part, that is how I participate in CS.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I stayed with quite some people by now and the experiences I had were awesome and I really enjoyed it! (Except for one, I guess a Lot of us have a CS Horror Story as well..)

Also I hosted some travelers in my home in Cluj (while I was living there for a teaching job) and it was great!

Interests

Traveling, languages, nature, eating and creating food, books, great music (I listen to a wild mix, from Argentinian rock to Romanian/ Hungarian folk and Arabic classical music), dancing…

Music, Movies, and Books

Films: any good documentary (lately I’ve really liked documentaries about Germans in Latin America.. tho it’s mostly very depressing because German settlers tend to be very racist- who would’ve thought?!)

Books: A thousand shining suns (Khaled Hosseini), Purple Hibiscus (Chimamanda Ngozi), La casa de los espiritus (Isabel Allende), my very favourite Nachtzug nach Lissabon (Pascal Mercier), Las Venas Abiertas de America Latina (Eduardo Galeano)…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Got my family to come to Romania and see it with their own eyes! (They had some prejudices, so it was kind of a big deal.)

Coming back to backpacking and hitchhiking.

Adopt Soare, she’s the best companion I could have hoped for.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach: vegan/ vegetarian cooking, the German language (at least a little bit), simple-minded jokes and wordplays

I want to learn: new languages, anything about your way and philosophy of living, show me your music and the books you’re reading !

I can share: my music, stories about my travels and people I met, food (I’ve got my favorite dishes which I can cook almost everywhere in the world), languages, memes, maybe a beer o some wine? Mate? Coffee?
