Overview
About Me
Hot Damn Scandal plays 'Tipsy American Gypsy Blues' – an original mix of outlaw ballads, dirty jazz, circus freakouts, ragtime sea-shanties, string band funk, lonesome heart-breakers, and the occasional tender love song. If Tom Waits, Django Reinhardt, and Mississippi John Hurt had met in a New Orleans carnival, stayed up all night under a bridge writing songs, and decided to form a band, the results might sound something like Hot Damn Scandal.
“Hot Damn scandal performs music that seems to be carved out of the broken heart of the American dream… you feel like you have heard these songs all your life. These are your favorite boots, your lucky hat, your Saturday night shirt, Your old dog that disappeared after the rain” - Scott Casey
We are a group of musicians between the ages of 24 and 30, on tour right now from Washington state down the west coast and up the mountain west.
You can check us out and hear our music at our website, www.hotdamnscandal.com
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We are a traveling band, and unfortunately, the performance industry rarely actually pays us a living wage, so it's not possible to stay in hotels or hostels much when we're traveling and playing shows. Also, it's way more fun getting to meet locals and share tunes with real folks in their homes.
Interests
Music! (Obviously). Paradoxes. Folk tales. Beautiful lies. Artists. Tricksters. Pretty much any person of any sort who is open with their own peculiar nature, and persists in the strangeness of their own self, despite society's attempt to contain them.
