About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Life is short. Live, Love, Learn!
ABOUT ME
That I smile a lot (virtually all the time) and can be quite quirky when you become best friends with me. I love community service, especially working with kids or the elderly, and most of my best friends I have met in this community service organization called Circle K International. I come from a diverse background: spent my early childhood in Korea and Dominican Republic, most of my life in Indonesia, and my college years in the U.S. I like to explore and try out new things, especially food, and can be very spontaneous. However, I'm not much of a party person, but I am definitely always down for a nice talk with friends over chips and beer.
PHILOSOPHY
Smile, everything will be alright.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am a couch surfer :) A first time one at that. I'm really excited to meet some cool people and visit extraordinary places!
Currently, I live in the dorms so I am unable to host. But when I graduate and get my own place, I would love to host couch surfers!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None so far. Soon to come, though.
Interests
I think virtually everything around me has the ability to engage me. Since I am a student here in UC Berkeley (and the coursework is pretty rigorous), I spent a lot of my time studying. Although I am an Econ major, I have studied Computer Science, Genetics, Astronomy, English Literature, Spanish, Italian, Music, and various other fields. I think I am interested in everything, and love to connect the dots between two different things. At the moment, studying is my first priority since I take my responsibility as a student very seriously. But when I am not studying, or have more free time (like this semester), I am usually at community service projects by day (especially the weekends) and nearby bars hanging out with friends by night. Sometimes, when I feel adventurous, I would get out and just walk and walk and walk, looking around me and observing people go about their daily routine... There is a decent amount of peace in that. If I am inspired, I like to write poems.

Currently, I am in love with the Lego Movie and Frozen.
I usually like a wide variety of music: popular, classical, jazz, modern, etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The night sky filled with stars. Yes, you can call me a romantic, but there is something so magical about a night sky filled with stars, away from city lights, that just grabs my attention and helps my mind wander. I remember my freshman year at college when I had to go to a "star party" as part of my Astronomy coursework. Basically, we met up and observed the night sky through a telescope. I could see Jupiter, the Cal Star (which is actually called Albireo), and many others. That was an amazing experience, but I think I liked it better just watching with my naked eye, without the telescope. It felt more real somehow.
Another time was when I was volunteering at a Down Syndrome Connection event where the volunteers take care of a child with Down Syndrome while their parents attend an important conference. At first, it was a little scary since I had never taken care of a child before, but I soon fell in love with my tiny human. Her name was Zoey and she was three, and was the cutest girl ever. She was always laughing at everything! I think the moment that left me awestruck was when it was the children's nap time and tucked her in and moved to check on another kid, when she grabbed my hand with her tiny fingers and looked right into my eyes, asking me to stay by her side. I will never forget that look of trust she showed me that day; the complete, no holding back, innocent trust. Something that we lose along the way as we grow up because we are often exposed to so many bad things happening in the media. I held her hand and stayed with her the whole twenty minutes of her nap time.
Teach, Learn, Share
I could teach you English and Korean! :) I would love to learn how to cook delicious meals (not just the scrambled eggs and ramen I make everyday). I would also love to work on perfecting the languages I know - Spanish, Chinese, Italian, Indonesian - and learn new ones too!
