About Me

I'm a more-or-less lifelong student on a mission to unlock the secrets of the universe. Don't know if I'll pull it off but it's worth a try. Right now I'm doing a PhD thesis on Christianity and the psychology of violence among the post-Roman barbarians.

But I'm a bit sick of libraries, plus it seems a little naive to imagine that real understanding can be derived entirely from bits of paper, so I'm on a little tour de France to just have a look at the place and possibly even have some fun at the same time!
Qua? Tu vuex que je traduire tout de ca? Utilisez google s'il vous plait :-]

I like to chat, i like a little dance, I'm not averse to a bit of intoxication of whatever brand. I am also capable of shutting my face and reading quietly if necessary. I need to hear French people speaking French to improve my comprehension. And I'm a nice guy (but then I would say that, wouldn't I?) (I am tho)

Wow, that's a big one. I'm really big on empathy and trying to not act like a robot. The rest is a bit complicated.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I need a couch... why else? Seriously though, I have found couchsurfing people to be really great examples of humanity, always interesting to meet and crazy in good ways.

History (obv), hip-hop, religion, philosophy, football, nature, causation, societies, behaviour, evolution, physics...

I have this idea that everything that has ever happened and is happening is connected by invisible strings, so to speak (i'm not referring to 'string theory' here)... i don't think i'm expressing this very well, but at the risk of sounding unbearably pretentious... listen to the music!

In conclusion I rarely fail to find things interesting.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lady Vengeance, Zoolander, Wu-Tang, MF Doom, James Brown, Pink Floyd, Plato, Foucault, Lord of the Rings, various religious stuff, and basically anything written more than 500 years ago.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Really? Shiiiiit. Well I,er... I once saw two rainbows at the same time!

I once blew my own trumpet (no not literally) so hard my lips fell off. Now I seem to be physically incapable of doing it anymore.

Teach, Learn, Share

I desperately need more French, but I also want to know more about psychology, biology (especially neuroscience), ethnography... actually pretty much anything now I think about it.

I tend to carry tea around with me (stereotype, moi?), so if you like tea this is your lucky day.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to give informal lessons on any bit of history, even the bits I don't know about. Since history is the ultimate super-subject, I also know a few things about psychology, economics, anthropology and whatnot, and I love to talk about all these things. I can also do the washing up or chop wood or whatever.
