About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling the world and exchange with the locals.

ABOUT ME

Hello I am Thibaud, I am French. I was born in Asia, I grew up between Paris and Amsterdam. I travelled around the world with my parents first and scince I am 16, on my own or with friends. For the 10 past years I lived in 9 different cities, I am always on the move.

I am working around Europe now but I should leave soon for Africa

I enjoy spending my free time with friends, visiting museums and other cultural activities.

PHILOSOPHY

Try things you don't have control on you will either have a good experience or a story to tell.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am no really peaky when it comes to host people. My rule is: if my schedule is free you are welcome no deep research on your profil or something else. If I decline your application it is because someone else is at my place at the same time (In London it was kind of crazy, I was booked one month in advance).

Sadly I have only been able to host for two months while I was studying in London. This was an amazing experience, even if I was stuck in England, I traveled to many different places thanks to the food some of my couchsurfers kindly cooked for me (Thanks again to all of you).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In London I hosted around 20 people over 150 applications. I know the ratio is not very good but my flat was not indefinitely extensible. During this time I was also a "regular" at the West London weekly events.

I did a two month trip in the North part of Central Europe. I manly use Couchsurfing. So visited people I hosted in London a year before, I met very friendly and generous people. I found out that altruism is not an overrated concept.

Interests

Traveling is my second nature, I was born this way I think (I had not reached 1 month that I had already visited 3 continents). I am always trying to find excuses to travel (and money in order to make it possible).

When I am visiting a city I love to get lost and enjoy the architecture styles of the different part of the different neighbourhoods.
Sometime I can be a museum rat, I can stay quite a long time especially if there are art pieces I had never seen before.

I like sport for the fun it can brings, I am not really into body building (you will never see me at the gym). I am pretty keen on water sports. My favorite ones are sailing and scuba diving. Sailing because it is a sport which requires a good understanding of the interaction between the elements with your boat. I like scuba diving because it can be like experiencing zero gravity.

Food is really important it is a bridge between civilizations. I remember when I was in the US, I was cooking some traditional dish from the Mediterranean seaside of France, my Iraki flat mate came in the kitchen and asked me why I was cooking an Irakian dish. This show the bridge built over the centuries between the different parts of the Mediterranean sea.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movies are a little bit meaningless such as Black Cat, White Cat; Man Bites Dog ;
I also like some good old movies such as Casablanca
And I have to admit that some time a blockbuster or a romantic comedy helps to clear my mind.
I am a great fan of Wes Anderson's work.

Books:
The Tartar Steppe-Dino Buzzati
L'or-Blaise Cendrars

Music:
Depends on my mood. I like music that gives me goose bumps

Kitsuné Label, Ed Banger Records,etc.
But I also frequently listen to classical music

Visiting the illegal part of the Paris catacombs. A lot of dark, stones and water but a lot of surprise and fun.
