I am a Canadian from Montreal Quebec travelling with my girlfriend, Catherine Nguyen, for a good 3 months. I did a 2 months backpacking in Europe with a good friend and Catherine has been to Vietnam many times to visit her family. In this trip, it is my turn to visit her family, live the Vietnamese culture and visit parts of Asia with her. Both Canadians, we love adventures and exploring. She, a civil engineer that just completed her studies, and I, a starting police officer between contracts, are very kind and open mind people. We both speak french and english, and Catherine speaks Vietnamese (me just a little) and Spanish. I speak a Quebec french (much different than french from France) and I like to teach others about the particularities (mostly what we are recognized for : our swearing - we have quite a funny culture). I worked my first contract in the great Canadian North and have a whole lot of stories from this experience. Of course every story starts with a lot of snow (seriously I was freezing up there). I studied in history in university and am very passionate about it. Cath loves her Korean drama, sangria and is a big foodie. She eats anything and loves to try new dishes. I also love to eat but Catherine would remember a place for its delicious food and me for its historical value. We both rock climb (bouldering) and I love camping, Cath loves the city (it’s okay, camping is normally boys and beer time anyway). We both love wine and cheese (can’t wait to bring her to France). We like hiking. We love each other. We like people.

Honestly, we do not know if we will use it, but just in case we never know if it can come in handy and if we can actually find some amazing people. Cath read on some pinterest posts that it was popular in Singapore, we might try Couchsurfing there.

Aside from work related (I keep those stories for a face to face), my backpacking in Europe was awesome, my 6 months up Canadian North was insane (both in a good and bad way), but the most amazing thing I’ve done was to move to Montreal and meet the love of my life Catherine Nguyen.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I can teach a lot about Canada as a country and how to survive winter (Game of Thrones reference right there). Joke aside I am well versed in history and am very curious about Asian’s history. Being Canadians, we mostly learned Europe’s side of history while growing up. Beside the minimal knowledge that I acquired during my course on the Empire of China, I don’t know much about Asian’s history. I am very interest by geography and population movements throughout the centuries. Catherine, as a four-lingual and with her facility in any language, can learn or teach a thing or two about her languages.
