About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Challenge as many of my stereotypes as possible, inspire people, learn to love (myself and everyone else) unconditionally and enjoy life on its fullest. (Oh, and if my mom asks "Doing a good job with my research job and finishing my two Master degrees.")

ABOUT ME

You wouldn't lie by calling me a tree-hugger. Making people aware of the consequences of our actions (as humans in general) motivates me in my daily as well as professional life. But I'm moderate, never radical or even judging a person based on his/her lifestyle (at least I do my best to!).

*Friends would describe me as: easy-going, friendly, engaging, philosophical, analytic and critical thinking, thought-provoking, inquisitive...and my creativity comes along with some chaotic feature ;)

*Considering the fact I'm German I've got a well-developed sense of humor.

*A house without books and plants cannot be a home.

PHILOSOPHY

You are responsible for your own happiness. You. So take action on that!

I think perspective matters a lot. This is why I'm a notorious optimist.
Happiness looks easy from the outside but you may only understand all the struggles that "happy" people have, when you walk in their shoes. For that reason I think talking about people (gossip) and being jealous on others' successes isn't anything constructive.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm on travel so I want to be the best possible guest you can have. Back in Germany I would be happy to host people in my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed and hosted a lot during my time in the international student organization AIESEC, visited people in Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam...and all over Germany. In the same time I had several of my foreign friends sleeping in my house. It was always a wonderful experience, since you learn so much about the other people.

Interests

I love cooking! I usually make up some vegetarian/vegan compositions which are influenced by several cuisines.

I care and study about: Economics (let's talk about the Economics of love... great discussions^^), International (trade/public) Law, Human Rights, Sustainability Science, Labour Conditions, International Politics, Intercultural Communication....

Especially when the sun shines, I love to be outside. Hiking, biking, walking, jogging...or might be even lying on a blanket, enjoying some picnic, wine and conversation.

I LOVE TO DANCE SALSA AND SING KARAOKE!!!! :D

Music, Movies, and Books

I love brass-balkan-music, Salsa, Reggea-Dancehall... but I'm also fine with other types of music - besides Heavy Metal (Sorry, I tried over years, but I can't help but getting super stressed by it...)

I LOOOVE BOOKS! Just to name some favorites: Pascal Mercier - Night Train to Lisbon, Milan Kundera - The Unbearable Lightness of Being.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived 10 months in South Korea - and there I ate all kind of crazy seafood, including living octopus (not sure if would do it again nowadays) and raw penisfish. Also I volunteered over there a Kindergarden teacher for German culture.

I worked 1 year for Lufthansa, checking in and boarding passengers at the airport. It was stressful but I loved to send all these people to their vacations and trips.

Once I took 3 Indian friends to my parents home during Christmas. Since all of them followed different diets based on their religion, we ended up with having 4 different menus. I love my parents for sharing my passion for intercultural fun :D

The probably best and intense Christmas I experienced, was the first "Natal" that I had with my ex-boyfriend together with his family in Brazil. I was so excited and touched, that I fainted away during the dinner speech (which leads directly to on of the most embarrassing moments in my life...).

Teach, Learn, Share

I love cooking! I can easily cook vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free meals, inspired from mostly Asian but also European kitchen. When food is ready we can talk hours and hours about world, life, love, travel... different cultures, international politics... what ever are your personal interests, it's rather hard to NOT find a topic we could share our perspectives about. I get pretty excited about everything related to sustainability, may it be related to energy sources, agriculture, working conditions, pollution reduction, green lifestlye and consumer behavior. My professional work as well as my studies deal with these topics and I might be a bit of a tree-hugger. But I am definitely not a radical or fundamentalist, no judgement over your lifestlye ;)
