About Me
I'm all about diversity! Growing up in a multi-racial and multi-faith environment in Malaysia has made me a really open-minded person. My mum's half Malay and half Indian while my dad is Malaysian Chinese so I grew up in a melting pot of culture. I can be quiet and I can be really outgoing depending on the situation and company. I really love meeting new people, in fact in 2013 me and a few friends set up a FB page called Faces of KL which was inspired by the Humans of New York page so that we can approach random strangers in Kuala Lumpur and talk about anything possible. I am a practicing Muslim but my extended family are multi-faith so I'm pretty well exposed to other religions and cultures although there's so much more to learn. I'm always up for a laugh and some adventure! I love food and music hunting. Going for gigs is one of my favourite things about living in the UK.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've heard of this from friends but has always looked at in with slight suspicion but since I came to the UK, I've been more brave to attempt things that would've seem quite scary to me before so I thought I'd give this a try.
Interests
Music, I have a secret dream of forming a band (not so secret online but in real life, not many people know I love to sing and play the guitar altho can't guarantee i'm actually good at it haha)
I love reading a lot! I'm a second year politics and sociology student in the University of Birmingham so I love world issues and debates. I'd like to be a part in solving its problems
Watching movies and daydreaming which I do a lot
Volunteering and social entrepreneurship
And I've been blessed with parents who love and could afford to travel so they've passed down some nomadic love onto me
I love writing as well and frequently write for my university's newspaper about travel, music and current affairs.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music : Diverse range of interest. From Arctic Monkeys to One Direction to Akala. I can be quite fangirly over celebrities but for music wise, my fave genre would probably be indie-rock with a tinge of folk. The Last Shadow Puppets, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Green Day, The Kooks, Kodaline, Passenger, Fall Out Boy etc
Books and movies are my escape. I grew up reading Famous Five, Enid Blyton, Alex Rider series, Harry Potter, Hunger Games and the likes but these days due to my course I find myself enjoying Plato, Hobbes and the likes. Arthur Miller, F Scott Fitzgerald and Kafka
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I'd say having the courage to leave all things familiar and comfortable back home to come to the UK to study. I didn't expect it to be this challenging to be an international student in the university.
Teach, Learn, Share
I really want to learn about the different lifestyle, cultures, experience and perspective of different people while I'm abroad.
I'd be happy to be tour guide and possibly host anyone who visits Kuala Lumpur over the summer break from mid June to end of August. My family often bring friends of friends from abroad around Kuala Lumpur and if they're really nice and we get along, we'll bring them to our hometown in the state of Malacca or to our favourite island up North.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I do love sharing stories and experiences. I'm that kind of person who will be happy to sit for hours to talk about Malaysia or Asia or the places I've been. And also will be happy to sit for hours to hear someone talking about their awesome life experiences. I can share awesome Malaysian food recipes as well! haha
