About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Slack'n'Science Project in South East Asia

ABOUT ME

Shared profile for our project with : Eva, Jonas and Selma .

We are 3 young folks who have just graduated from an engineering school in FRANCE (Insa of Lyon). We are about to go on a 3-month trip around South-East Asia in October. The itinerary we built up will lead us through North-Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Thailand, in contact with rural communities.

We have known each other since the beginning of our studies, and our interest in traveling and discovering new cultures has always been important to us. We've been thinking about doing this kind of trip once graduated for a while. Discussing it, we quickly figured out that our expectations were far beyond a regular touristic tour.

Within our studies we all had the opportunity to spend a year abroad. This taught us the real richness of traveling: beyond discovering stunning landscapes or buildings, human connection is based on exchanging and sharing with locals. That's why we would like to live again through this journey.

With the dynamic of exchanging and sharing in mind, our goal is to offer an educational program of knowledge development focused on making science friendly and accessible to youth.

This might occasionally include earth works and renovation or construction of new infrastructures for educational purposes.
To identify different local solidarity projects, will rely on different networks such as Couchsurfing, Travel With A Mission, GlobeDrop, Wwoof and HelpX, not to mention people we meet during our trip.

Our approach is mainly aimed towards helping youth.

Our goal here isn't to work on a long term projects, but more to offer an opening to the world, to arouse the interest of people and families we meet to these new ideas, which may be relatively inaccessible through local means.

We are aware of the possibility of strong language barriers in some remote locations.

To capture the attention of the new people we meet, as well as overcome the language obstacle, we plan to bring along 2 slacklines and other ice-breakers,such as music instruments and other sports equipment, for demonstrations and community building.

All in all, this trip is as much about giving as it is receiving, and we hope to have the opportunity to share some of the things that we find important. This project is driven by a strong basis of respect for and protection of the environment, which will be reflected in our teaching.
