About Me

Jan is right now trying out a lot of things to see 'what sticks', or what he'd like to do to earn money. No easy task! What he found out so far is that he enjoys learning about people and likes to get excited and passionate about lots of things! Hussah!

Judith is currently writing her Master's thesis in theoretical physics, but takes a lot of time out to explore all kinds of things, and to just enjoy life -- which she didn't do so much in the previous years, so there's a lot to catch up on :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We'd like to host, surf and just meet cool locals when travelling!

I have the feeling you see this on almost every couchsurfing profile nowadays, but: We, too, don't just want to offer surfers a cheap place to stay, but we'd like to get to know you a bit and, if possible, do something together during your stay here :-)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We had the chance to interact with the Couchsurfing Community of Marseille, which got us lots of cool things to see and try and the chance to talk to actual people!

Outside of couchsurfing.org, we hosted 2 Chinese students for half a week as part of a choir exchange between Shanghai and Bremen, which led us to their city in 2013. Our hosting experience with them was also the reason we decided to sign up here!

Interests

Both of us enjoy listening to and making music - there's a total of 7 musical instruments in our apartment and we participate in the local university's choir together. We also love reading (fiction & non-fiction) and sometimes do Nordic Walking together, which is totally not boring! Seriously, you look like an idiot in public, how could it be boring?!

Jan has found quite the enjoyment in learning to juggle, doing improv and playing games. He's filled with glee everytime NASA, ESA and the likes do almost anything at all and loves the thought of one day flying an airplane.

Judith likes to play volleyball and is planning to learn yoga. She also enjoys cooking new/experimental meals (since we both try to live vegan, there are many things to explore). She'd love to share ideas/experiences on this field with hosts and surfers! Her new passion is playing the accordion (which is the best instrument in the world :) ).

Music, Movies, and Books

There's some things we *don't* enjoy, like German folk-music (Judith's not as sure as Jan on that topic).
But mostly, we find ourselves enjoying artsy things across most genres.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch-hiking from Bremen to Amsterdam in the middle of a hurricane in December was pretty great.. when we finally got there!

Teach, Learn, Share

Judith can teach you how to solve the Rubik's Cube -- Jan's niece can prove it! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can introduce you to the amazing world of boardgames! Not the lame ones that you used to play as a kid, mind you, but instead really exciting ones that will have you lying in our faces and shouting with delight!

Countries I’ve Visited

China, France, Netherlands, Turkey, United Kingdom
