Hi! I’m Remy, I’m 30 years old and in love with my city Gent. I work for the Belgian railway company as a trainconductor. A job I enjoy very much, and gives me everyday the feeling of traveling :-).

In my free time I enjoy spending time in nature, discussing topics about philosophy, ethics, politics and psychology, reading my book/newspaper in the sun (and most of the times falling asleep when the sun is shining, hihi), getting lost on Wikipedia or go crazy on the dance floor on African and Balkan beats.

I'm interested in antroposophy (Rudolf Steiner), ancient medicine (homeopathy and alchemy), sustainable transport (train and bikes) , cooperative initiatives (fuck capitalism!). In the past I've lived in different eco-communities in Spain and Germany, where I learned a lot of alternative ways of living and working together. I also wrote my thesis about these communities.

I'm a curious, sensitive, responsible, playful and contemplative person. I like foxes, swans and climbing in trees. My favorite herbal tea is lemon grass and I'm a big cheese lover. I like to play with dogs and kids. My favorite movies are (in no particular order): The Lobster, Pierrot le Fou, Captain Fantastic, La vita è Bella, and Jurassic Parc (Lost Word). When i'm working on my computer there's always some Leonard Cohen, Bach or Yo-Yo Ma playing on the background.

I’m currently in a long distance relationship (my girlfriend lives in Zürich) and studying in my free-time to become a therapist.

I’m a big sauna enthousiast, so chances are big I will ask you for sauna recommendations in your city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I would like to travel and discover more of Europe by train (I travel for free thanks to my work) and i’m looking to make new friends in Europe.

I’m also looking to move the next months to Switzerland to go live with my girlfriend and hoping to meet new friends here and learn (Swiss) German.
