Overview
About Me
Roehl/Roger/Rog here, 30 from sunny Manila. I have been living in the city for some time now, but always jetting off. I am currently working part-time as a paralegal to a US law firm while finishing my last year in medical school.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm just here to meet incredible people and share conversations about how amazing the world is. 🌏 Couchsurfing is an awesome platform—it's brought me unforgettable experiences and some of the best connections over the years! 😁
Interests
I'm all about music, visual arts, and writing. Science fascinates me too—but let’s not slap the “nerd” label on me just yet. I dive into books and documentaries on world history and have a deep appreciation for geography. Cooking is another passion of mine—probably inevitable, considering I come from a family of chefs. Safe to say, I know my way around a pan.
I hold a degree in Communication, majoring in Journalism, and I'm currently in my final year of medical school.
As long as it’s healthy, safe, and doesn’t mess with biodiversity, I’m all in for anything that fuels my craving for experience and adventure. I thrive on spontaneity, live for the thrill, and always chase the next new thing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I’ll play just about anything on Spotify, but I keep coming back to artists like Vance Joy, The Lumineers, Radical Face, Grizfolk, The Head and the Heart, Youngblood Hawke, The Temper Trap, Roo Panes, Blind Pilot, American Authors, Walk the Moon, and Passion Pit—just to name a few. I’m also a big fan of classics like Christopher Cross, Daryl Hall & John Oates, The Beatles, Van Halen, Bruce Springsteen, and the Bee Gees. The list goes on! I just wish I could sing half as well as I listen, haha!
Books: From Reader’s Digest to Dan Brown, I’ll read just about anything. I always try to squeeze a book into my luggage whenever I travel—if there’s space, of course.
Movies: I’m all about slice-of-life and comedy films, but I also have a soft spot for thrillers and the occasional animated movie.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
• Biked across town borders for days, couchsurfing on the fly and catching quick naps at bus stops! 🚲
• Took home the gold at a national documentary competition! I shot, directed, wrote, and edited a short doc about Bohol’s ancient limestones—their history and ecological importance—all in just one day.
• Hopped on a tiny boat, solo, with no life vest, crossing islands at the edge of the Pacific.
• Looking back, I’ve realized I’ve always stood for compassion, children in need, and protecting the environment. 🙂
Teach, Learn, Share
I can swap stories, teach you anything I know, and even pick up your local language while sharing mine in return!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I’m lucky to own a mortgage-free home in the Philippines (woohoo!), and I’ve been living independently since I was 16. Whenever I’m in the country, my space is yours to share! I usually cook for my guests, serve fresh tropical fruits when they’re in season, and throw in some music—plus some questionable singing from me. There’s also Netflix if you’re up for it, European power sockets (lol), and, most importantly, plenty of stories to swap! 😊
