About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to go everywhere and do everything.

@zoerom.

ABOUT ME

I am a post-punk vegetarian, food blogger, writer, and journalist. I spend as much time as possible outside. I am an avid backpacker and climber, and run almost every day. I'm constantly in motion. I get really excited about coffee and vegetables.I love adventures and exploring, and have traveled widely in Europe and have visited 47 states. Experience fuels my writing, and I'm constantly looking for the next big adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

I live for starry nights in the desert, long trail runs, chilly mountain summits, fresh garden veggies, apple pie, William Blake, cappuccinos, bicycles, beat poetry, chili peppers, quiet mornings, French films, and good books.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I would like to travel in a way that allows me to get off the beaten path and meet interesting people, and I would love to facilitate new experiences for others as well. I would always rather meet new people than stay in a hotel, and getting to know others and the world around me makes me s more whole person.

Interests

I'm a writer, and am looking for new stories and way to relate to the world around me. I specialize in environmental and science writing and am fascinated by the natural world. I have worked as a backpacking guide in New Mexico, and am an experienced backpacker and hiker. I'm a long distance runner, always trying to run faster, longer. I love movies and books and I'm always open to recommendations. I really like cooking, mostly veggies. I love bluegrass music and David Foster Wallace. I ride my bike everyday.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love poetry and creative nonfiction. My favorite books are "The Elegance of the Hedgehog" by Muriel Barbury, "Desert Solitaire" by Edward Abbey and "Tinkers" by Paul Harding. I'm a dedicated subscriber to the New Yorker and love long-form articles. I love French New Wave films and samurai westerns. I love lots of music - but lets talk about that vis-a-vis.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've climbed 26 of Colorado's 14ers, spent a year in Italy, a summer in England, seen the end of the Tour de France in Paris, I've met Oprah and Posh Spice, had Sangria in Spain and Tacos in Mexico, and I've hiked 53 miles in 17 hours. I've run three marathons, two half-marathons, two ultra-marathons, and eaten a one pound burrito. Probably most proud of the burrito.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm very passionate about the outdoors and am a confident guide. I love showing people around my backyard in Boulder, I know you'll fall in love with the mountains too. I really like cooking, and am always eager to learn new recipes. I'll make you a killer cup of coffee every morning.

I love staying in to cook a great meal, then going out to get a good beer.
