About Me
Hey! 👋 I'm a Peruvian 🇵🇪 currently doing my Master's in Sustainable Development 🌱 with my home university in Leipzig, Germany 🇩🇪. Right now I'm in my second semester on Erasmus exchange 🎓, living the student life and trying to balance studies with exploring new cultures and meeting amazing people.
In 2023, my partner and I went on a big adventure to Australia 🇦🇺, working all kinds of random jobs to save money for this Master's degree - cow farmer 🐄, bartender 🍺, rental car agent 🚗, bottleshop attendant, you name it! It was tough sometimes but honestly one of the best experiences of my life. I met so many international people there 🌍, including some incredible hosts through Couchsurfing, which really showed me how special this community can be.
I'm pretty laid-back, curious about everything, and always up for good conversations about life, culture, or just random stuff 😄. I love sharing food and stories - probably got that from growing up in Peru 🇵🇪 where my family always made guests feel at home. My grandma and mom taught me to cook traditional Peruvian dishes 🍽️, and I actually travel with some ingredients so I can share that part of my culture wherever I go.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
For me, Couchsurfing is about connecting with real people 🤝 and experiencing places through local eyes 👀, not just checking off tourist spots. It's about those genuine moments - cooking together 👨🍳, sharing stories, learning how people actually live in different cities.
I'm here to meet new people while I'm studying and traveling in Europe 🇪🇺, learn from different perspectives, and hopefully share some good vibes ✨, Peruvian food 🇵🇪, and interesting conversations. It's about building those connections that sometimes last way longer than the trip itself 🌟
Interests
🌱 Sustainability & Environment - Obviously studying it, but I love talking about and finding new practical solutions and how we can live better without being preachy about it.
✈️ Travel & Cultural Exchange - Meeting people from everywhere 🌍, learning the small things like how they make coffee ☕, what they eat at home, local customs.
🍽️ Cooking (especially Peruvian food 🇵🇪) - This is huge for me. My grandma and mom taught me their recipes, and now it's my way of carrying Peru with me. I love cooking for hosts and sharing that part of my culture.
🎵 Music - Lately I'm really into Latin music and reggaeton 💃, but rock and pop 🎸 will always have a special place in my heart. Always curious to discover what people listen to in different countries.
🎬 Movies & Series - I'm a sucker for anything with plot twists, mystery, or suspense. Interstellar 🚀 is still my all-time favorite movie.
💬 Deep Conversations - Whether it's about life choices, culture, future plans, or just funny travel stories 😂.
🌿 Nature & Animals - Some of my best memories involve being around animals or in beautiful natural places.

Music, Movies, and Books
🎵 Music: Right now I'm dancing way too much to Latin beats and reggaeton 💃, but rock and pop 🎸 will always have a special place in my heart. I love exchanging playlists 🎧 and discovering new artists.
🎬 Movies & Series: Honestly don't have much time lately with the Master's 📚, but I really appreciate films with good plot twists and suspenseful stories that make you think 🤯. Interstellar 🚀 broke my brain in the best way possible and I'm still thinking about it.
📖 Books: I'll be honest - I was that easily distracted kid who couldn't sit still long enough to read, and not much has changed haha! 😅 But I'm trying to read more now. I always travel with "Ikigai" 🇯🇵, which my Japanese roommate gave me years ago when we lived together. Recently bought "Nudges" after a professor in Graz 🇦🇹 recommended it - saving that one for summer ☀️ when I have more time.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hard to pick just one, but here are a few that still give me chills ✨:
🐄 Working as a cow farmer in Australia 🇦🇺 - something I never imagined doing in my life, but there I was at dawn dealing with cattle in the middle of nowhere
🌊 Swimming alongside a manta ray in Nusa Penida, Bali, Indonesia 🇮🇩 - just the two of us moving through the water at the same pace, completely magical
🐘 Bathing a group of elephants in Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭 while the baby elephant kept splashing everyone with water like it owned the place 💦😂
Teach, Learn, Share
🎓 What I can teach:
🇵🇪 Authentic Peruvian cuisine & culture - I can teach you how to make real Peruvian dishes from scratch using my grandma's recipes - ceviche, lomo saltado, ají de gallina. Not the restaurant version, but the way families actually cook at home. Plus all the stories and cultural context behind each dish 📖.
🗣️ Spanish with Peruvian flair - Native speaker here! Whether you're starting from zero or want to sound more natural, I'm happy to help. I'll teach you proper Spanish plus some Peruvian slang that'll make locals smile and think "this person actually knows our culture" 😄.
🌍 Real travel & work experience - Spent a year doing Working Holiday in Australia 🇦🇺, working everything from cow farming 🐄 to bartending 🍺. I can share honest advice about visas, finding work, budget travel, and experiencing Southeast Asia 🇮🇩🇹🇭 beyond the tourist trail.
📚 What I'd love to learn:
🗺️ Hidden local gems - The spots that don't show up on tourist websites, the neighborhoods worth exploring, the places where locals actually hang out. I want to see your city through your eyes, not Google's.
🎵 Your music & cultural references - What do people your age actually listen to here? What are the cultural jokes everyone knows? These little details fascinate me more than any museum.
🤝 What we can share together:
🍽️ Cooking exchanges - You teach me your dish, I'll cook you something Peruvian 🇵🇪. Perfect deal, right? Food is my love language and the best way to really connect with someone's culture.
📖 Travel stories that'll make you laugh - From accidentally becoming a cow farmer at dawn in the Australian outback 🐄 to getting completely soaked by a baby elephant in Thailand 🐘💦, or swimming alongside a manta ray in Bali 🌊. Life has given me some pretty good material!
🎵 Music discovery sessions - I'll get you dancing to some Latin beats and reggaeton 💃, you show me what moves you. Music is such a universal language, and I love those moments when a song just clicks.
🧹 Respect for your space - Clean habits, helpful attitude, and genuine gratitude. I know hosting is generous, so I always try to leave places better than I found them.
What I Can Share with Hosts
The best part about staying with someone is the cultural exchange 🌍, and I love giving back to my hosts in meaningful ways.
My favorite way to say thank you is through food 🍽️ - I cook traditional Peruvian dishes 🇵🇪 from scratch using recipes my grandma and mom taught me. I actually travel with some authentic ingredients from Peru, so I can make you proper ceviche, lomo saltado, or ají de gallina. There's something special about sharing a homemade meal from my culture, and I promise it'll be way better than any Peruvian restaurant you've tried! 😄
I'm also a native Spanish speaker 🗣️, so if you're learning or want to practice, I'm more than happy to help - from basic conversation to teaching you some fun Peruvian slang that'll make locals smile.
Having lived and worked across Australia 🇦🇺 for a year, and traveled through Southeast Asia (Indonesia 🇮🇩, Thailand 🇹🇭) and now studying in Europe 🇪🇺, I can share honest, firsthand travel tips 🗺️ and recommendations for any of these places. Not the typical tourist stuff you find online, but real insights about living costs 💰, work opportunities 💼, hidden gems 💎, what to actually avoid, and how to experience these places like a local rather than just another tourist.
I've got plenty of stories to share too 📖, from working as a cow farmer 🐄 in the Australian outback to swimming alongside a manta ray 🌊 in Bali, or bathing elephants 🐘 in Thailand. Plus, since I'm studying Sustainable Development 🌱, I love having those deeper conversations about life, travel, and how we can make better choices for the planet - but don't worry, I'm not the preachy type! 😄
Most importantly, I'm respectful, clean ✨, and genuinely grateful 🙏 for every person who opens their door to me. I'm always happy to help with cooking 👨🍳, dishes, cleaning 🧹, or whatever you need around the house.
