Experience the North!!

I'm a student from Germany who fell deeply in love with Northern Europe, so I spent the last couple of years living, working, volunteering and travelling in Norway, Sweden, Iceland, the Faroe Islands until I moved to Denmark a few weeks ago in order to study a Master's programme with a focus on Arctic Studies.

I enjoy spending the rainy days curled up in my armchair, a good book or movie (or both) and a mug with hot chocolate at hand and hopefully a cat in my lap - but not when I am travelling: Then I have places to go, stuff to see, mountains to hike :)

PHILOSOPHY

Do it. Now. And no, bad weather is no excuse: Get yourself a rainjacket and warm underwear. And lose the attitude.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Unfortunately I don't have that much experience yet: I met my first couchsurfers in Stavanger (Norway) a few years back where I visited a friend who has been a couchsurfer and host for years. I met so many nice people on the weekly meeting there, that I decided to give it a try myself :)

I also spent 4 days with the most amazing and generous people (and their cat) hosting me in Helsinki in 2014 - good times. Since then I always ended up staying with friends (or friends' friends/family), camping or staying at work-away places and not couchsurfing when travelling around, therefore the lack of references.

Well, I can quote an almost embarassing lot of Disney movies (kid of the 90s). But apart from that I like movies with an actual plot, ideally one I don’t feel insulted by.
I enjoy listening to bands like White Lies, The National, Me and My Drummer, The Lumineers, ...
As for books - I like reading in general, so I like books in general but no thrillers. I especially enjoy Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett.

I participated in a whole lot of sheep and horse round-ups in Iceland - it was amazing!

I can tell You a lot about German medieval texts and stories, german literature and quite a bit about story telling in general
