I am a young woman living in Victoria, BC. I currently work as a caregiver for an eleven year old boy with special needs. I will be attending a HCA program (run through Victoria's Camosun College) on Salt Spring starting in october, where I will become certified to work with adults with disabilities and seniors. I plan on moving to Salt Spring sometime in july and am currently searching for housing and work.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I plan on finding work and moving to salt spring very soon, however, I have a large (and very sweet) dog. This makes finding long term housing more difficult. And given that finding housing is difficult for an off-islander in the first place, I am considering couch surfing solo, with my dog staying in Victoria, until I can put down stable roots.

This could be a few days, or a month, but I am grateful for any length of time I am offered a place to stay. Who knows how long it will take to find a home for Dexter and I. I am hoping to find a temporary housing solution while I begin to create this life for myself on this beautiful island. I would love to find a mutually beneficial situation, where I can attempt to give back to my ost as much as they are giving me.

*once I settle into my own place, I would love host and offer others a place to stay.

Interests

My free time is often spent reading, writing, drawing, spending time in nature, cycling, laughing, practicing yoga and gardening. I am interested in community development, sustainable food production and alternative lifestyles. I live for thought provoking conversation and am fascinated by the inherent and unique (yet common) beautify that every person holds.

Ah, too many favourites to condense into this box!
I really enjoy books (fiction and non-fiction) as well as music, movies, I am a little more picky with (only because I have trouble staring at a screen for long periods of time).
I have a wide taste in music and can get into almost any style.
I am almost always reading 3+ books at once. At this point in time, that is:

I would love to give back in any way I can! I can offer child and senior care service, animal care, house cleaning, gardening/farm assistance, leading private yoga/meditation/mindfulness sessions suited to your needs, and am open to any unique needs you may need help with.
