About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I love to travel and I believe meeting many people from different backgrounds enhances my experiences both traveling and at home.

ABOUT ME

I am a visual journalism student at Brooks Institute in Ventura, CA. I love traveling, meeting new people, and exploring new places. I have traveled in Central and South America and speak intermediate Spanish. I love spending time in the outdoors be it backcountry skiing in the the mountains, whitewater kayaking, or surfing (which I am slowly learning to do here in Ventura). I am a photojournalism student so I enjoy taking photos in any candid situation where there are people, especially everyday people and street photography.

PHILOSOPHY

I seek truth through getting to know people. That is why I do the work I do in photojournalism. I believe in the rule of karma and practice it in my everyday life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am just joining the couch-surfing community. I plan to couch surf and host couch surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch-surfed a good bit when I lived in Pinedale and Jackson, WY. Mostly they were friends who were kind enough to let me stay on their couch for a night or two here and there.

Music, Movies, and Books

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas - book and movie, anything else by Hunter S. Thompson, The Zanzibar Chest by Aiden Hartley, anything written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was in Caracas, Venezuela during the 2007 referendum for constitutional reform. I freelanced as a photojournalist documenting press conferences with President Hugo Chavez, Chavista and opposition marches, the vote and aftermath in the defeat of the reform. This was an amazing experience where I befriended many Venezuelans from both sides of the political spectrum as well as the working international media.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have knowledge of photography and design/aesthetics in general.
