ABOUT ME

I work for a vacation rental company and local magazine handling marketing, graphic design and photography. I also freelance as a graphic designer/photographer. I work a lot and am always plotting ways to work less. I have a passion for travel and began this phase of compulsive working with the intentions eventually being able to work solely for myself, from anywhere. I'm not there yet, but I'm still hopeful.

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing.com in 2006 before taking a solo trip to New Zealand. I had been to New Zealand before, but was a little nervous about being on my own. Through couch surfing I was able to make an acquaintance in Auckland before I even left. I did not stay with him right away. I met him with another girl that I met in my hostel and we hung out giving me a chance to decide if it felt safe. I did eventually couch surf with him for about a week. It was great having a contact to help me to purchase a car and find my way when I first arrived.

Most people I know think that the idea of couch surfing is completely insane and dangerous (including my husband). I realize that it could be, but I want to believe that people are good and that a system such as this can thrive to aid people with a similar goal - travel. One of the best parts of traveling I think is meeting and learning from new people from different cultures.

I have a growing affinity for plants and I love to paint when I have the time, the space and the supplies.
