About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To travel and experience as many cultures, cuisines and languages as possible...oh yeah and to not work in a real job for as long as possible! I'm doing pretty well on both fronts at the moment!!

ABOUT ME

I think I have probably done as good a job of summing me up in the other boxes below, for more info just ask :-)

PHILOSOPHY

You only live one...It's better to regret something you've done, than not done and treat others as you would like to be treated, oh and also, don't take yourself or life too seriously!!

I also like to think that what you see is what you get with me, straightforward, no bullshit, love to laugh and make others laugh.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I'm hoping to participate by meeting people in the next few countries that I'm visiting and staying on their couch or at least have someone to meet for a drink and know where the locals would recommend. When I do finally settle in one spot again, I plan to offer the same as I'm hoping to experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Truth be told, I've spent a lot of time on mates couches or in a spare room. Even when I was at school I lived a fair distance from my school friends so ended up staying at theirs the odd weekend or night after school.

My most recent couch surf was only meant to be for a short while when I was working in Melbourne but turned into quite a long stay!!! I'm never fussed where or what I sleep on for the odd night when I catch up with mates if it means seeing a bit more of them.

Interests

Football, pool and most sports in general. Recently that has been beach volleyball in Australia and South East Asia,

Science, travel, technology, environment, renewable energy, sport, reading, music, food, animals

Bit of a nerd and geek, Mac user and rooted and modded android phone.

Beer-> drinking it with old and new acquaintances alike :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music, generally like most music except chart stuff, country music and cheesy R&B. Have a very eclectic taste in music.

Love languages and food...mmm, trying to learn a lot of a little, for travel around Asia, and planning to become fluent in Spanish through living there or in South America.

I love to read, a couple of my favoutite recent reads are Shantaram and The Book Thief, Hyperion, Nelson Mandela - Long walk to Freedom and Plato, the republic.

Good films, I don't really sit still long enough for films but I did enjoy Blood Diamond, The Departed and one of my all time favourites is the Shawshank Redemption. Recently watched Old Boy, very disturbing but brilliantly written and acted Korean movie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lot's recently. White water rafting, elephant riding. Temples at Angkor Wat. Petronas towers in KL.

Seeing people on the poverty line happy and smiling despite their living conditions.

How all the kids in South East Asia appear to always be happy and smiling and love playing football or pool and how many languages they can speak, the Cambodians especially.

Teach, Learn, Share

If I like something I love to learn, if I don't then I will hate it. I've been very lucky recently with locals in South East Asia helping me to learn the local languages and firestaff twirling.

And I enjoy teaching people the little bit of language I've picked up and even started showing someone how to twirl a firestaff. Don't worry not using fire yet though...long way off!!

Countries I’ve Visited

Cambodia, Czech Republic, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Spain, Thailand, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, Portugal, United Kingdom
