About Me

I regularly attempt the impossible, and sometimes succeed. I studied music and literature in college for my bachelors, currently practice as a massage therapist, and hope to eventually open a meadery. I practice jiu jitsu and Muai Thai, shoot a lot of pool, and enjoy making things - whether that's food, fiber arts, wine/beer, or whatever else, crafting is always interesting to me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting new people. For me, travel isn't about being in a place, it's about experiencing the culture wherever I'm at, meeting new people, and making new friends.

Interests

I started practicing jiu jitsu in August 2017, but only recently started Muay Thai. I play on a pool team every Tuesday night. I enjoy food; I love cooking and baking, and I especially love eating. I love fiber arts, reading, writing, playing music (bass is my primary instrument), listening to music, and a lot of other things that I haven't had time to do for a while.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a musician and can't possibly list all the music I love. I listen to the whole gamut - from classic jazz to classic rock, from various Asian classical musics to Swedish folk rock. There are very few musical styles I do not enjoy. I've never been able to list my favorite movies, but I like comedy and action. As a literature major, it's difficult to list favorite books, but I enjoy Russian literature, early English literature, and new young adult, as odd as that sounds.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have been to Peru and Bolivia with my family, which was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. We met some amazing people, saw some amazing architecture, ate some amazing food, and walked some amazing streets.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk a lot about a lot of things. Of course, I can talk a lot about music. I'm also interested in education systems and human anatomy. The things I've already talked about, of course, are pretty safe bets for conversations with me.

I love learning about languages and cultures that are outside my experience. I try not to let personal discomfort get in the way of new experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would love to cook a meal, have a discussion about local politics or traditions, buy a round at the local bar, shoot a game of pool, or learn something new entirely.
