About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See golden days, fruitful of golden deeds, With Joy and Love triumphing.-J Milton~Be faithful in small things because it is in them that strength lies.-M Teresa~Think of all the beauty still left around and be happy.-A Frank."

ABOUT ME

To describe myself I suppose I should begin by writing that I am a 43 year old mother of one 16 year old son. I have been a paralegal for 22 years and am considered an expert in the field of personal injury, wrongful death, disability and homeowners loss insurance claims submission and litigation.

After running my late husband's law practice for 17 years, I am completing my BS and continuing to law school. As my son has his heart set on being an attorney like his dad, I'd rather be his senior law partner than his support staff!

Additional jobs and skills include professional fundraising, writing music and lyrics, screenplays and poetry, painting and drawing and I am a life long equestrian.

Presently, I work with equine adoption agencies to retrain unsuccessful racehorses for new vocations such as fox hunting, eventing, endurance and trail. In January 2001 I founded Sutallee Equestrian Center and taught adults, children and emotionally fragile students and conducted summer horse camps until its sale in 2005.

Also< I am a certified Alpha & Omega Mounted Patrol Officer who is trained in security and crowd control (music venues, malls, parades, visiting potentates, etc.).

While I am a gypsy at heart, I am also a gracious and open-hearted hostess. In the event that we are traveling, I have numerous friends and neighbors who are willing to act as guides and house-mates for anyone needing to surf in our absence so the couch is only closed if it is occupied.

My son has his heart set on following in his father's footsteps (i.e., Marine Corps Pilot, Lawyer & One Helluva Gentleman). I'm spending as much time showing him this Earth before he gets to the real exploring without me!

PHILOSOPHY

Raised a Christian, my life experience makes me more of a spiritualist in nature and a practitioner of tolerance. After-death experience in '07 gave me additional insights as to our universal relation to one another and the answer to "is there anything next?"... Both Athiests and Fundamentalists are in for some enlightenment...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Been a wanderer and bread-breaker since early youth. Given to sharing my cooler of beer in a traffic jam and generally lending a helping hand ("up" not "out"). Believe my innate philosophy of good will and acceptance is mirrored in the purpose of The Couch Surfing Project and I wish to participate as a host, guide and guest as often as humanly possible.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far my experience is only as a surfer as I have been traveling whenever approached by a potential surfer but am open to it of course!

Interests

Meeting folks with considered opinions who are interested in discussion, debate, music, art, cuisine (you cook or I or grabbing a bite of local flavor) and sharing of life and travel stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

In my free time I write screenplays, short stories and poetry so I tend to read the scripts of other writers or films I enjoy. I am a singer, lyracist and composer, but dragging a Kurzweil 88 where ever I go proves a bit difficult.

Brotherhood of the Wolf; Out of Africa; The Power of Myth; A Passion in the Desert; The Collected Teachings of Florence Scovill Shinn; Death Be Not Proud; Maugham; de Balzac; Camus; Dickenson; Chet Baker; Ella Fitzgerald; Art Tatum; Bootsy Collins; Toots and the Maytalls; Toots Thielemans; Ennio Marriconne; John and Laura Barry; Kate Bush; Phillip K. Dick; so many more that I would appear schizophrenic...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have stood at the top of the temple of Kulkukan and experienced the Hawaiian earth quake on my birthday in 2006 (birthquake!) and passed on through to the other side in 2007 and spent approximately 7 minutes in the hereafter before being nagged back by a particularly persistent ER occupant (Thankyou, Katrina Taylor). So many more things to share in person that I prefer not to list them here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I spent 12 years in continental restaurant work from age 15-27 and often cater my friends' parties or special ocassions. I tend to use seasonal, organic items since my experience with my late husband's lung cancer battle. Go East! We can have metaphysical / spiritual discussions. Enjoy singing in pubs and clubs with others.
