Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best couch I have ever slept on is actually my own pull out. It is soo comfortable, and for a steal at $50 from the classified ads in the paper last year, I can't help but feel great when i fall asleep in it.

Interests

camping, lazing around outside in warm weather. I enjoy drinking black teas- especially Chai when I am feeling cozy. I love to fish, play cards and eat all sorts of kinds of food and experiment making them!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing that I have seen is the 'underground' in Chicago Illinois. I've been there on quite a few occasions actually- but one time, I was in grade nine and I went there for a week to work in soup kitchens, housing projects and just to help out some of the homeless. The organization that I was with took a van full of us down under all of the huge high-rises and, you wouldn't believe it- but there is actually a second layer to Chicago- it's the loading dock layer. All of these big rich fancy stores, towering several stories high, all recieve their shipment underneath in loading docks- and down there, in the winter- a lot of the homeless set up small shacks and such because it is out of the wind and there is no snow. We spent a few nights down there bringing warm soup and sandwiches and juice boxes to the people we met and sometimes we would stay around to chat if they were feeling up to it. It was an amazing expeience that opened my eyes to a whole new perspective.
