Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have met many lovely people via this website. I do want to meet people that are concerned with social transformations and protecting the environment - are actively doing so or thinking following these lines.

However I'm getting reluctant about being here. Iceland is exploding with tourism and I'm starting to get the feeling people are treating couchsurfing as a free hotel despite all the cooking everybody is gonna do for me. I do not want to be ironic but I cannot stand getting another "I love get to know new cultures and talking to local people" request. I can also sense that I'm starting to treat those requests more like numbers and I don't like it, it feels like I'm answering emails for a phone company or something. But this might also be food for thought in realtion to tourism and "getting to know people" - there is only so and so many a person can actually come to know personally during a specific period of time.
