ABOUT ME

Hi there!

I am a singer/songwriter and have released 4 CD's to date. And I am also a filmmaker who has produced and directed 3 short films to my songs that are being broadcast in Canada and are being screened at film festivals worldwide. I have toured extensively across North America with my music on a grass roots level, so have done my share of couch surfing by default- I thought I might as well make it official!

When I'm not touring I work in various capacities in the arts in and around Calgary, which is where I find my sense of community.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe we are spiritual beings having a physical experience, so my spirituality is most important to me (more in a New Age sense than religious sense). I believe we create our experiences, so am working on bringing my subconsciousness into my conscious awareness and align both of those with my Higher Self, which is aware of my ultimate purpose. I am working on being in the Now as much as possible. I Am fascinated by Quantum Physics. And I have created a pretty amazing, rewarding, creative life, so for the most part, I think it's working!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

In my time touring as a musician, I have met many people who have become my best friends all because they opened their homes to me at a gig ! It is not about the practicality of simply having a place to stay. It's about meeting like-minded, open-hearted people, and really integrating yourself into the community you are spending time in, to learn more about the places you are visiting. Because of this philosophy, places like Reno, Nevada, Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin and other towns call me a local even though I don't "live" there. I feel I am nomadic and someone recently defined this for me in the best way I've ever heard: A nomad isn't someone who doesn't know where they belong... a nomad is someone who belongs everywhere!

I love the idea of coordinating this philosophy on this couch surfing website and I am happy to join in order to continue meeting amazing people of all walks of life!

I'm also moving from a studio apartment to a townhouse in Calgary, so will be able to host in a few months myself!

As a touring musician I have surfed on many couches in my time, so thought I'd better make it official and join couchsurfing.com! So far on this site I've met some extraordinary people who have become life-long friends for sure!

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

As a musician I have had lots of amazing experiences and adventures! The past few years have been truly magical. This year I spent a month in the mountains of Alberta doing an artists residency, then 1 month in Nashville working with a vocal coach (a woman who sang with Leonard Cohen for 10 years!), then a tour through the Midwest US. And over the past few years I have performed during the Sundacne Film Festival in Park City, UT, traveled across Cuba (thanks to my dad inviting me and covering my expenses), had a film premier in Memphis, TN (where it won Best Music Video), this film also won Best Music Video at the Honolulu Film Awards which enabled me to travel for 3 weeks in Hawaii, and I am attending the Burning Man Festival in the Nevada desert for the 14th time.
