ABOUT ME

I grew up in Southern California. My life changed after my first trip to Central America and a school with a social justice perspective and internships in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. My eyes were opened in so many ways, and my values and politics changed dramatically. I spent another year in Central America working on farms and studying sustainable agriculture.

Since then I've moved here to Portland, where I've alternated between teaching (mostly ESL) and working at a collectively-run food cooperative. I've spent time in Brazil practicing music and capoeira, and more recently I've been involved with human rights work in Haiti. I just completed a film on Haiti that I've been working on for the last 2+ years!!

In my daily life I like to garden, cook, hang out with friends, hike and backpack, read, watch films and go out dancing. Fun and humor are essential. I'm very sarcastic, so watch out. I'm good at impersonations.

I learn and grow (and have fun) in my travels and experiences with other people, cultures, and places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My main experience was traveling through Spain which made the trip so much more meaningful. I never would have met so many great people and experienced things in such a unique way.

Interests

Rock climbing, surfing, hiking, music, film, the sun, swimming in cold water on hot days, silly fun, riding bikes, sleeping, dancing, drinking coffee everywhere, and going out (or staying in) for drinks with friends.
