About Me

CURRENT MISSION

learn how to hug&laugh in every language

ABOUT ME

22 years old; student in Chicago, originally from Texas. Graduated in May with majors in African Studies & International Studies; minors in history, anthropology, and peace studies. I love music and movies and sitting outside in the sun when it isn't freezing. I'll use any excuse not to wear shoes. I'm learning how to cook. Vegetarian. Favorite food is thin-crust pizza with green peppers and olives. I'm an only child, so my friends are my family.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm driven by Dr Martin Luther King's "I am [here] because injustice is here" and the Zulu concept of Ubuntu--> "i am because we are". Trying to do my small part to create love and understanding where there once was injustice and oppression and marginalization.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I met a few people when I was in Uganda over the summer and that was a great introduction to the community! More recently, we've been hosting a lot of people in our community house and i have absolutely loooved meeting so many interesting people. I don't have the time to take off to travel, so hosting will have to do for now, but I can't wait to get some surfing experience.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met some amazing people during my time in Uganda and have LOVED being a part of hosting people in the Ubuntu community house. People have such different experiences and i love hearing about them.

Interests

Reading books that leave me feeling hopeful; I've recently rediscovered how great it is to climb a tree!! I love animals & listening to live music & doing things that aren't usually nightime activities (like going to the zoo) as late as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am currently awe inspired by "Peter Camenzind" by Hermann Hesse. About Peter's travels through Italy and Germany back when you could do it on foot and stay in small towns and his evolving thoughts on love and nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first trip to Uganda changed me and my path forever. Sunsets over Lake Travis in Marble Falls, TX continue to be the most extraordinary things I've ever witnessed.

Teach, Learn, Share
