ABOUT ME

Raised in the heart of the South by a Yankee (guido) family from New Jersey, the South really got a hold me after fifteen or so years of feeling like an alien. Sweet tea and cornbread? Southern Baptists? But it crept in. After a while, the obesity, education, and racism issues that the deep South is known for (and made me resent my home) become less of a focus for abject disgust and more of a target for growth. I've come to love my roots and the culture that made me who I am, and I've come to grips with being a Southerner. We just need to fix our education system so we can lift ourselves out of this m-m-muck. You can do it Mississippi!

PHILOSOPHY

My purpose in college was to secure an income for the rest of my life, and now that I'm done with that I can't wait to get into a real education. I want to see it all even though that my spirit knows that all I need is right behind my eyes and underneath my skin.

I've hosted once before and I've spent a weekend surfing and skydiving in Houston with about 14 other surfers. Great times.

I'm a very curious person and a serious nerd so I have an interest in just about everything, but specifically...

Literature, Philosophy, History, Etymology, Economics, Sociology, Video Games, Movies, and cramming every minute of my day with learning...

Music is a huge part of my life - these days I'm mostly into independent artists, and I get most of my music news and album reviews at a site that focuses on that slice of the music scene, pitchfork.com. I don't create any, unfortunately, but the wealth of beautiful music that is available through so many mediums in our time in history makes us unbelievably fortunate people.

Lately I've been reading these guys...
Chuch Palahnuik, Ernest Hemingway, Harry Crews, Thomas Friedman, Cormac McCarthy, Leo Tolstoy, and a couple of other stuff. Mostly fiction, in case you couldn't tell.

Since I've been in Dallas I've been listening to Gorillaz, Neutral Milk Hotel, Broken Social Scene, Yo La Tengo, Arcade Fire, Sleigh Bells....
