I'm about to embark on an adventure around New Zealand then maybe a bit of SE Asia. Hoping to make use of this site as I find my way around.

Thus far I've only met one person through this site but we had several great nights out in Glasgow and I stayed with them in London.
So, so far so good.

There is so, so much good music in the world and it's easier than ever to discover new stuff. Music's just noise and, once that's realised, caring about genres and such just seems silly. Norah Jones, Napalm Death, house music; it's all good.

I love films but wouldn't consider myself a movie-buff. I like all sorts and most of the usual favourites. Off the top of my head, some films I really loved: Man on Fire, The Proposition, The Bourne Films, Into the Wild, Alien, Reservoir Dogs, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Donnie Darko.

Books - again, I'll read anything that seems interesting. Some I've recently enjoyed: Excession by Iain M. Banks (huge fan of his stuff), anything by Neil Gaiman, The Rasputin File, Hitch-22, Song of Ice and Fire series, John Irvine's stuff.

I'm very lucky to have played music in situations where there's a receptive crowd, good sound and high intensity, and it's amazing. I've also skydived, flown over the grand canyon, and seen Neurosis live...

I can play guitar and would be happy to pass on any tips to a beginner. I'd love to learn things like drawing or cooking, or daft wee tricks, or languages...anything!
