About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To experience everything- I am a part of all that I have met

ABOUT ME

Do I contradict myself?
Very well then I contradict myself,
(I am large, I contain multitudes.)
-Walt Whitman, Song of Myself

PHILOSOPHY

"Tennessee Williams once wrote, 'We all live in a house on fire, no fire department to call, no way out; just the upstairs window to look out of while the fire burns the house down with us trapped, locked in it.' In a certain sense, the playwright was correct. Yes, but oh! What a view from the upstairs window!
What Tennessee failed to mention was that if we look out of that window with an itchy curiosity and a passionate eye; with a generous spirit and a capacity for delight; and, yes, the language with which to support and enrich the things we see, then it DOESN'T MATTER that the house is burning down around us. It doesn't matter. Let the motherfucker blaze!"
-Tom Robbins, Fierce Invalids Home From Hot Climates

I am constantly trying to refine my idea of the best way to live in this world, which at this moment is: I am alive right now, and I am going to enjoy that as much as possible. Basically, I'm a melange of existentialism and hedonism; I think it's important to know what makes you happy, and to pursue that.

C'est mieux d'avoir de remords que des regrets!
(It's better to have remorse than regrets)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At this point, I've realized that I probably will never live in one place for more than two years, there is too much to see! Couchsurfing seems like the perfect way to accomplish this; I can discover cities with the help of a local and have interesting conversations/ make connnections with other travelers when I have my own place.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't couch surfed as of yet, but in a month that will no longer be true... can't wait!

Interests

Music- nothing is more important to me; singing; playing my flute; ethnomusicology; abstract art; lucid dreams; thinking; philosophy; cooking; languages; writing (mostly poetry and short prose pieces, someday a novel); hallucinogens; traveling (of course); existentialism; sustainable architecture; wine; modern dance; marine biology; hiking; being in nature; string theory; love (I want it to exist); taking risks.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I watched someone create instruments from vegetables. My favorite was the onion: he played it like a harmonica and it sounded like an opera singer!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you to sing, or if I have my flute and you play something, we can jam. We can also exchange drinking games! I think it would be cool to learn at least one new one from every country I visit :)
