ABOUT ME

I would like to travel around the Arab world and see Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Bahrain, Oman, Yemen... but as a graduate student, this might be a project that can only be realized in chunks.

Traveling seems to run in my blood. I can't live without it, and without the excitement of being in a new place, hearing new languages, trying out new cuisines...

I'm new to Couch Surfing, but I'm looking forward to becoming part of the CS community. I'd love to meet fellow travelers and hopefully host others next fall.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love Isabel Allende, Alice Walker, Paolo Coelho, Amin Maalouf... I enjoyed reading Persepolis, Reading Lolita in Tehran, The Year of Living Biblically, Lipstick Jihad... I watch foreign films, but Hollywood movies are also interesting in their own ways. Musicians I enjoy: Francois Hardy, Cheb Khalid, Fairuz, Abd El Haleem Hafiz, Squirrel Nut Zippers, The Ditty Bops.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw tango dancers in Central Park and decided to learn. Dancing on the pier in New York, by the river in Berlin and here in Chicago were the most beautiful moments in my life!
