ABOUT ME

HELLO!!! HOLA!!! BONJOUR!!! CIAO!!! HALLO!!! :)

We are two students from beautiful San Diego, California. We are just starting our Europe trip in which we will go to Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Greece, France, Italy and whatever is in between! Awesome, huh?

PHILOSOPHY

I personally feel that respect is one of the most important things in life. I think everyone deserves respect and should be treated in a nice way, whether it's a cashier at a grocery store or a bum on the street or your math teacher. I also think it's extremely important to respect yourself. I always try to be positive and look at the bright side, to not be negative about a situation or myself. While that can be difficult from time to time, I constantly strive to live a happy life. I like happy people and positive thinkers, action-takers, and not whiners. Instead of thinking 'Why me?' I like to think 'OK, what can I do about this?'

It is impossible to truly learn about a new culture without having an open mind and great respect towards it.

Music, Movies, and Books

MOVIES: Comedies! We love to laugh! Adam Sandler & Jim Carrey are great actors, corny but great!

Series: Lost, South Park, Weeds, Heroes, House

MUSIC: Paul loves rock [Metallica, Sevendust, Rammstein, Thrice, Tool, Apocalyptica]. Jhonni loves anything with a good beat! Rock, punk, jazz, reggaeton, 80s, reggae, etc! Music depends on the mood- sometimes I like relaxing music like Jack Johnson, sometimes fast energetic music like The Prodigy, sometimes dancing upbeat music like The Black Eyed Peas.

BOOKS: Paul is into a lot of philosophy type books and stuff by Dean Koontz, The Eragon series

and Jhonni just loves Harry Potter. >< Well, not JUST Harry Potter... The Empire of the Ants, Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister, Wicked [Gregory Maquire], anything by Victor Villaseñor [Lluvia de Oro, Macho!, 13 Senses, etc.], Laura Esquivel is another favorite, Crime and Punishment, some Dickens, etc etc

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled Peru- Cusco, Lima, Machu Picchu, Aguascalientes [Jhonni, without Paul :( ] I also ate cow heart & alpaca heart! Mmmm mmm yum!

Jhonni just graduated in May of 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish language and culture and a minor in French.

Paul has travelled to England, France, Germany, Sweden, and Denmark when he was younger, and is looking forward to going back.

We went to the Caribbean together. It was beautiful. We saw Puerto Rico, Dominica, the Virgin Islands, Dominican Republic, Barbados [what am I missing].. but it was a cruise so no CouchSurfing :\

Eventually we'll be able to say we traveling Spain, Amsterdam, Italy, Germany, France & Greece!

We've both skydived! =]

Teach, Learn, Share

Jhonni is currently studying in Spain until the end of June. She has had a fascination with the Spanish language since she was little. OK no more third person! I would love to meet anyone from a Spanish-speaking country that would like to practice Spanish with me. In Spain I do lots of tandems where we meet and first speak in one language and then another and both help each other along the way. I love to help people with English and might some day find a career in it.

So come speak Spanish with me! Who knows? Paul might pick up a word or two.. =]
