ABOUT ME

I'm a 26 year old Australian girl. I love reading, travelling drinking, dancing, and watching films. My main aim this year is to start postgrad study in sustainability and to hopefully make my own life more sustainable!

I live in Newtown in Sydney Australia with my boyfriend Thom who is English. Our neighbourhood has heaps of cafes, bars and pubs and we'd love to show people around. We're both vegetarian so if you'd like a few tips on good places to eat green feel free to contact us!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As a relatively new couch surfer I have nothing much to report on the participation front yet. But I can say that having lived abroad for an extended time I have met so many amazing and wonderful and helpful people and I think this project is a great way to meet more of those kinds of people and to give something back to the travelling community. So my aim is to meet people, help people and show them around Sydney as much as possible.

Movies
I love films of all sorts, but particularly the 70's so Taxi Driver, The Conversation, The Godfather and so on. But I also love Lost in Translation, Vertigo, Rear Window, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Magnolia, The Passion of Joan of Arc, Juno, Raging Bull, Dersu Usala, American Beauty, Chinatown, Donny Darko, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Amelie, Garden State... and more.

Music
I love all kinds of music, particularly indie, rock, electro, techno - so generally anything with a beat that I can dance to! But also jazz and blues and R and B, so a little bit of Nina Simone or Django Reinhardt or even Hank Williams.

Books
Anything Murakami, but also Lolita, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, Crime and Punishment, The Great Gatsby... I love a good modern classic.

I'm a qualified teacher of English as a second language. I've also taught classes in making beaded jewellery. And as for what I'd like to learn, I guess it's the same as any good traveller, I'd like to meet different people and learn about their culture, their language and where they live!
