ABOUT ME

I've lived in Seoul, South Korea for close to five years now. I love to travel, meet new people, learn new languages - probably much like everyone else on this site, right?

I was working as an editor/translator for the Seoul Global Center, a branch of the city government, which meant that I got to write, edit, and/or translate articles for most of the English newspapers (Korea Herald, JoongAng Daily) and English magazines (Groove, World's Seoul) in the city. It was actually a really interesting and fun job, but I quit my job recently in order to go to grad school in Seoul.

Starting in September, I'll be part of the Korean Government Scholarship Program, where they fully fund you to get your Masters or PhD degree from a Korean university. If you want more information about this program (NIIED), just ask me!

Finally, and most importantly, I volunteer for three amazing organizations here: the House of Sharing, a house for the survivors of sexual slavery by the Japanese government ("Comfort Women" or as we prefer to call them Halmoni -- it means grandmother in Korean), the Korean Council for the Women Drafted for Military Sexual Slavery by Japan, and Korean Unwed Mothers' Families Assocation(KUMFA), a group that helps fight for the rights of single mothers in Korea. I'm new here, but have already hosted a few times and enjoyed it each time. I guess I have a unique blend of expat experience here, though I can speak Korean so that can be helpful as a tourguide.

If you stay with me, you should know I have a dog who is a liiiiittle rambunctious but very loveable.
