About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Crash into people, see my life spin off in directions I never could have imagined, lose control, and love it.

ABOUT ME

I...love to meet people that live lives completely different from my own--mainly because I like finding that, despite so many superficial differences, we're all so much alike. It...affirms my faith in humanity.

I will do absolutely ANYTHING for family and friends.

I love to laugh and joke around--it's the universal language! And life's too short. And I love to get the life story of all the interesting people I get to meet. Just like my Mom did, haha. It's amazing how we open up.

Oh, and I...am not a serious person. At all, haha.

PHILOSOPHY

Really, I think that Faith, Hope, and Love; Thoreau's Walden; and Bob Marley's 'One Love' are all the human philosophy we need in this world.

I believe that Steinbeck hit on something when he wrote 'a fellow ain't got a soul of his own, just a little piece of a big soul.'

I think H.W. Longfellow got it right when he wrote 'if we could read the secret history of our enemies, we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility.'

And I think that short term and long term visions are good and necessary for the natural progress of humanity...but that, as parts of the Universe, our Today should be the focus of life. So--when we have a good day--we should say it and remember it, and thank the Universe for it...because Today was a good day, and that's all that we could possibly ask.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

However I can! I know enough of a few languages to open some doors. And I move a lot (moving to Arizona in September, then Wiesbaden, Germany in December), so I'm usually trying to make new friendships in different places. I'm hoping CS connects me with great people wherever I end up!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None at all...but I'm excited! My friend spent two weeks in South America, staying with a few different surfers in the process. His story convinced me...and I had to try!

Interests

Fishing, Reading, Flying, Photography (I take LOTS of pictures), Writing, Journaling, SCUBA Diving, Riding the motorcycle, and Sailing (I'm going to sail around for a couple years after I get out of the Army...really)

Oh, and mostly people. Howie Day was somewhat right: sometimes we meet, sometimes we collide. Our course through this world is never the same afterwards, and we're usually the better for it.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'll start with the obvious ones: Bob Marley, Elvis Presley, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, and a few thousand others.

Walden, Lost Horizon, Goodbye Mr. Chips, A River Runs Through It, Shakespeare's dramas and comedies, Lord of the Rings, and Tennyson's 'Ulysseus'

Lord of the Rings, Crash, Love Actually, The Family Stone...anything that reminds me of mom, family, home, and/or common bonds of humanity and the fact that we're here to love one another

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had so many good days...

Flying a helicopter with no hands, maybe? Oh! One time I rode a manatee. Don't tell anyone that.

Teach, Learn, Share

geez. what, haha!? I guess I can think of some stuff, but it probably wouldn't matter unless you just happen to love aerodynamics. Knot-tying, maybe? Haha. Wait! Oh! I can definitely make brownies better than anyone else here...even all my female friends admit it. So I'll go with the brownies.

Countries I’ve Visited

Netherlands Antilles

Countries I’ve Lived In

Germany, United States
