Overview
About Me
I am a student currently working my way through a Masters degree in linguistics and computer science in Toronto, Canada. I travel whenever I can but when I'm at home I spend my time cycling, writing, and trying to learn how to juggle (it's going slowly but I'm getting better).
I used to be a cook and although I've left that life behind I love to cook for myself and my friends, eat, and talk about food.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I originally joined couch surfing when I was traveling as a teenager. I have not used it too much since then but I am looking forward to getting back into it, meeting great people, and having a great time around the world and at home.
Interests
My interest in cooking led me to work as a cook for many years and I still love cooking for my friends and family. I primarily cook vegetarian meals in a variety of styles but I do like cooking a good roast every once in a while for a special occasion.
Most of my reading these days is school related but I do love a good scifi or fantasy novel, and I love good post-apocalyptic fiction.
I bike to get everywhere but I also love cross-country mountain biking (and downhill when I can). I have also done several long bike tours, most recently from Toronto to Montreal and before that I did a month long solo tour of New Zealand's south island.
I study languages for a living although I only speak two. My interest is primarily in using computer models to help explain linguistic phenomena.

Music, Movies, and Books
I read anything by Neil Gaiman or Haruki Murakami but I mostly pick out books by going to the library and finding something with a cool cover. Its a hit and miss technique but I find cool books I wouldn't have read otherwise.
I primarily listen to old punk, new folk, and r&b from whenever.

Teach, Learn, Share
I can talk about syllables and other language-y things all day. I also love talking about food, how it's grown, how to cook it, and how to eat it. I can teach you to juggle up to three random objects.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I love to chat and exchange stories. I am happy to cook for or with you.
